    We seek team members with a great attitude, in addition to that the following skills will see you succeed in this role. At least two years of relevant experience may substitute for the formal qualifications listed below. In some instances, relevant experience and/or on-the-job training may be required in addition to the formal qualification. A qualification such as a certificate in Cookery (Level 4) will be an advantage.

      • Previous experience as a Demi Chef in a busy a la carte operation
      • Flexible to work rostered shifts, including weekends, late nights and public holidays.
      • Open communication skills and the ability to work well within a team
      • An engaging personality with the skills to interact with our guests
      • Ability to spot and resolve problems efficiently
      • Knowledge of cooking trends and best practices
      • Familiarity with Food hygiene and sanitation regulations
      • Qualified culinary degree/certificate - Preferred, but not essential
      • Current rights to work within NZ essential

    The Role | Te mahi
    We are seeking a Demi Chef de Partie to join our friendly team in our busy kitchen based at Novotel Christchurch Airport Hotel. You must have high standards in food and cooking techniques to support our Head Chef in a busy restaurant with breakfast, lunch, and dinner services and conferencing events. A knack for innovation is welcomed in this role.

    This is a part-time job with minimum of 20 hours per week.

    Responsibilities | Ngā haepapa

    Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

    • Produce excellent quality dishes to brand standards for the restaurant, bar, conferencing and room service on a day to day basis
    • Organise the shift, placing orders, prep completion and supporting the team to ensure the kitchen is always well prepared, clean and hygienic for each shift
    • Support the Head Chef and where appropriate guide junior kitchen team members
    • Foster a great team environment of cooperation and respect between co-workers
    • Monitoring quality of dishes at all stages of preparation and presentation
    • Preparing and cooking food
    • Understand and execute the food control plan
