The Quality Manager is responsible to ensure program quality compliance and integrity of all organizational processes. The Quality Manager is responsible for the oversight and implementation of the QMS including quality control and quality assurance functions. This includes management reviews, audits, process improvements, nonconforming material, inspection, working with third party witnesses/inspection, calibration and project quality requirements including quotation review, specification reviews, and customer interfaces.
Responsibilities:
- Completes quality operational requirements by scheduling and assigning employees; following up on work results.
- Maintains product quality by enforcing quality policies and procedures and government requirements; collaborating with other members of management to develop new product and engineering designs and manufacturing and training methods.
- Leads and participates in “Root Cause” investigation of all non-conformances with a focus on eliminating sources of variation.
- Responsible for accuracy and currency of all documentation supporting the companies’ quality management system.
- Conducts periodic process audits/validations to ensure compliance and adherence to company policies and procedures.
- Assists in the review of customer specifications at time of project quotation and contract review. Provides input for RFQ clarifications, exceptions or acceptances.
- Participates in project kick-off meetings, internal meetings, customer and vendor meetings as needed in support of Project Quality Engineers.
- Works with Supply Chain in maintaining the AVL through vendor audits, questionnaire reviews and OnBase maintenance of AVL.
- Supports Project teams when customers require NCR, CAR, audits and other quality assurance functions
- Ability to communicate with external and internal customers regarding the manufacturing process, NDE processes and the quality system.
- Maintains quality staff job results by coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results.
- Provides the program leadership in maintaining all the documentation required of the company’s quality management system.
- Leads the company personnel in conducting an annual audit of the company quality program.
- Prepares product and process quality reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
- Achieves financial objectives by preparing the quality assurance budget; scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions.
- Keeps management informed of current trends in process and employee capabilities to meet customer demands and quality requirements.
- Responsible for creating and performing an annual management review.
- Responsible to ensure annual audits have been conducted.
- Reporting monthly metrics to Northchase.
- Support the customer feedback process.
Required Skills and Experience:
- Required: High school diploma or equivalent.
- Preferred: Bachelor’s degree desired in business or engineering. Equivalent work experience as a quality engineer or manager is acceptable. Additional training in the quality functions, sciences, disciplines to include 6-sigma desired. Lead Auditor training.
- Experience – -minimum of 3 to 5 years leadership experience as a Quality Manager in a manufacturing organization with supervisory experience.
- Thorough understanding of measuring devices and their calibration requirements.
- Experienced in training and educating mechanical technicians in the proper use of inspection tools, use and care.
- Knowledgeable of Quality standards, references, guidelines and can interpret those standards to best fit our culture and climate.
- Participated in and understands the requirements to ISO 9001 compliance and ultimate certification.
- Experience reporting research results, interpreting and writing technical standards.
- Understanding of and can promote process improvement, developing standards, managing processes supporting manufacturing methods and procedures.
- Must have strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize assignments.
- Must have a complete understanding and experience working with a dynamic and integrated computer system.
- Understands the inter-relationships of all company processes and transaction reporting in and ERP System.
- Understands relational database structure for developing reports or request for reports through the IT department.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Experience with document control.
- Must be able to recognize and be discreet with sensitive business-related materials.
- Must be able to work with people to accomplish assigned tasks.
- Must be able to read, understand, learn and follow written and verbal safety, quality and work instructions.

Work Environment/Conditions:
- This position will require working primarily indoors in a smoke-free office and manufacturing facility but may also require the employee to be outdoors on occasion.
- Limited travel will be required to support offsite personnel and business projects.
- Occasional assignments will require remote accessing and may include evening or weekend schedules.
- The noise level is usually moderate. Employee will occasionally work near moving mechanical parts.
