Maintenance Technician
Huntsman is seeking a Maintenance Technician supporting the Advanced Materials Division located in Los Angeles, California. This position will report to the Maintenance Manager .
Job Scope
The Maintenance Technician supports safe and reliable manufacturing operations by performing preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on production equipment, utilities, and facility systems. This is a hands-on, mechanically focused role responsible for equipment reliability, troubleshooting, repairs, and responding to breakdowns to minimize downtime.
Key Responsibilities
Preventive & Predictive Maintenance
- Perform scheduled preventive and predictive maintenance on manufacturing equipment, utilities, and facility systems.
- Inspect equipment for wear, leaks, vibration, alignment issues, and other conditions that could affect reliability or safety.
- Identify developing equipment issues and take or recommend corrective action before failure occurs.
- Perform lubrication, adjustments, component replacement, rebuilds, and other routine maintenance.
Troubleshooting & Emergency Response
- Troubleshoot equipment failures, determine causes, and safely restore equipment to service.
- Respond to breakdowns, urgent maintenance needs, and emergency call-ins to minimize downtime.
- Diagnose mechanical problems involving pumps, seals, bearings, gearboxes, valves, piping, pneumatics, hydraulics, mixers, reactors, compressors, HVAC, boilers, and related equipment.
Corrective Maintenance
- Repair, replace, rebuild, and adjust mechanical equipment and components.
- Perform equipment alignment, piping repairs, welding, fabrication, and related work within established training and qualifications.
- Verify equipment is safe and ready for return to service following maintenance.
Equipment Installation & Improvements
- Support equipment installation, modification, relocation, and commissioning.
- Identify and support improvements to equipment safety, reliability, performance, and maintainability.
Documentation & Parts Management
- Accurately document inspections, repairs, equipment conditions, labor, and parts in the applicable CMMS/EAM system.
- Read and use equipment manuals, drawings, schematics, procedures, and work instructions.
- Identify required parts, materials, and tools and maintain organized work areas and equipment.
Safety
- Follow site Environmental, Health and Safety requirements, Lockout/Tagout procedures, permits, and safe work practices.
- Use required PPE and respiratory protection and follow applicable requirements for confined spaces, work at heights, hot work, and elevated work platforms.
- Perform work only within established training, qualification, and authorization requirements.
You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates.

Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- Minimum four years of hands-on industrial maintenance experience.
- Demonstrated mechanical maintenance and troubleshooting experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
- Experience with industrial mechanical equipment such as pumps, seals, bearings, gearboxes, valves, piping, pneumatics, hydraulics, mixers, and compressors.
- Ability to read and understand equipment manuals, mechanical drawings, schematics, procedures, and work instructions.
- Working knowledge of industrial maintenance safety practices, including Lockout/Tagout.
- Basic computer and mathematical skills and ability to accurately complete required documentation.
- Must be willing and able to work any assigned shift, including first, second, and third shift, as well as staggered hours, overtime, weekends, holidays, emergency call-ins, and alternative work schedules based on business needs.

Preferred Qualifications
- Technical or trade school education, apprenticeship, or related industrial maintenance training.
- Chemical, batch, continuous-process, or similar industrial manufacturing experience.
- Experience with welding, fabrication, industrial utilities, CMMS/EAM systems, SAP, HMI systems, VFDs, Siemens systems, or AutoCAD.
- California Electrician Certification or Journeyman Electrician credential.
- NFPA 70E and OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 training.
Career Growth
Maintenance Technicians participate in a structured Tier Qualification Program. Progression is based on demonstrated skills, completion of required training and qualifications, satisfactory performance, applicable time-in-position requirements, and business needs. Associates may become eligible to begin the Tier qualification process after a minimum of 12 months based on demonstrated competency and business needs.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
Work is performed in an industrial chemical manufacturing environment involving production equipment, hazardous and flammable chemicals, utilities, outdoor areas, elevated work areas, and confined spaces. The position requires regular walking and standing; frequent bending, kneeling, reaching, and climbing; lifting and moving up to 65 pounds; working at heights; and wearing required PPE and respiratory protection.
What Success Looks Like During Your First Year
- Safely perform preventive and corrective maintenance with increasing independence.
- Complete preventive maintenance on schedule and identify equipment concerns before failure.
- Effectively troubleshoot and repair mechanical equipment to help minimize downtime and repeat failures.
- Demonstrate proficiency with site equipment, maintenance systems, documentation, safety requirements, and assigned tier qualifications.
What can we offer you?
- The hourly rate for this position at the time of hire is $38.17 per hour, plus a $2.00 per hour shift differential for eligible hours worked from 2:30 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. This position is scheduled Monday through Friday on either 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. or 2:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m or 10:00 p.m. to 6:30 a.m.
