Objective
Main Objective of the Position
To effectively drive continuous improvement and industry best practice within the manufacturing facility. Take ownership of the functional project planning from start up to project completion for the area of responsibility and drive manufacturing to plan and quality right first time of all products produced. To provide corrective and preventative actions to site issues. To actively promote a positive health and safety culture. Areas of Responsibility
Health, Safety and Environment
•
Maintain a safe system of work for the workplace.
•
To eliminate hazards and manage critical risks by design.
•
Proactive approach to emerging unsafe conditions and manage incidents.
•
Ensure everyone complies with all relevant safety, health and environment rules and behaviours.
•
To support all employees in the understanding and management of site Critical risks and Hynds Golden rules.
•
Alert employees to specific hazards. Give particular attention to new employees.
•
Ensure completion & communication of near miss, incident and hazard reports.
•
Conduct inspections for H&S and Environmental inspections.
Production
•
Ensure in advance that all drawings contain all the relevant information to ensure the production and project plan is achieved.
•
Ensure in advance all materials, moulds, accessories, plant and machinery etc. are readily available in order to achieve the daily and weekly manufacturing plans.
•
Ensure all material and product movements are co-ordinated and effectively controlled.
•
To organise and supervise resources directly required for completion of any scheduled task as directed.
•
Allocating work to multiple teams or work groups or individuals.
•
Liaising with production management for efficient resource allocation.
•
Daily support, TQ, RFIs and any technical direction to all teams and individuals.
•
To have knowledge of works in progress, output, downtime, waste, reject & rework.
Quality
•
Ensure product specification, Inspection and testing plans including, concrete mix, cover, dimensions, reinforcement, finish etc. is strictly achieved.
•
Ensure QC in accordance with the Inspection and testing plans, Quality management systems and process.
•
All Quality Control check sheets are completed in correct sequence and non-conformances urgently acted upon.
•
Raise NCR’s in accordance to quality system and close out as soon as possible.
•
Liaise with Production Managers and Supervisors to ensure quality procedures and relevant Quality Plans are strictly adhered too.
•
Minimise rejects, reworks and waste during manufacture by ensuring quality standards are met
Continuous Improvement
•
To constantly improve working knowledge of the site to support improvements.
•
Seek innovation and improved best practice ways of working.

Support where gaps are identified for improvement.
•
Promote, champion and drive continual improvement in all processes. Explore ways within the team environment to improve current systems and processes. Specific precast product ‘Critical to Quality’ and ‘Delivery to Promise’ requirements are to be developed and implemented. This to be developed within the precast team onsite, working alongside the Production Engineer and the Quality Supervisor/team

Finished goods quality is influenced by this role who directs and leads a team of specialist technicians and engineers who influence the control of production processes within those halls
•
Improvement of our QC/QA and production reporting system is critical for business excellence, and this role will work alongside key managers onsite and within the wider business
Planning
•
Ensuring mould allocation, all materials are available to meet the production plan.
•
Specific project planning as required.
•
Effectively liaise with all project / contract stakeholders to ensure the timely delivery of all projects. Ensuring pre-start requirements are strictly adhered to.
•
Know efficiency targets for your area.
•
Show good awareness of production requirements and be willing to assist in achieving them.
Audits and Inspections
•
Complete quality and incident investigations and notification in accordance with legislation and Hynds management systems.
Information and Reporting
•
Ensure attendance to meetings e.g. at Pre-Starts, Daily Brief’s & Tool Box Meetings.
•
Ensure correctly record of production, downtime, rework, rejects and communicate appropriately with their teams.
•
Ensure correct timely submission of all information (plans, hours, allocation)
•
Develop and assist with the reporting requirements for the site and the preparation of documents as required.
•
Ensure timely submission of all information.

Ensure records are well maintained in the systems used within the business.
•
Communicate to the team the daily / weekly goals together with Project goals and relevant KPIs.
Operational Excellence
•
Manage the production line processes onsite. Ensure that machine availability remains ‘open’ for planned production
•
Seek improvements in product quality, labour utilisation, machine workcentre utilisation
•
Determine workcentre capacity range (low production requirement through to peak sustainable capability) and monitor for available capacity to be able to consider future production demands
•
Optimise the performance of the main processes on site to :-
o
Optimise labour utilisation, machine utilisation
o
Minimise rejects/rework, reduce raw material variance
o
Measure and improve BOM accuracy as a key success measure
o
Minimise unit cost of production for each work centre
o
Available workcentre capacity
•
Cost management is required for all precast production workcentres, reviewing actual costs and time against plans (BOM) and budgets
Efficiency
•
To achieve the planned outputs and production schedule.
•
To assist the group as delegated.
•
To control your time at commencement, during and completion of the shift
•
Minimise rejects and waste (reinforcement, concrete, consumables, labour) during manufacture by ensuring quality standards during production are met.
Housekeeping & Inventory
•
Maintain a high level of cleaning and tidiness compliance in all planned work areas.

Understanding and using 5S methodology.
•
Ensure all tools are cleaned and returned to the stores or are safely secured and put away.
People & Communication
•
Assist in the communication process e.g. at pre-starts and Tool Box Meetings.

Communicate to Specific Teams to Ensure they understand the tasks at Hand

Communicate to the work group.

Tertiary Qualification
•
An appropriate Civil or Construction Engineering degree that underpins the relevant skills and experience required to effectively perform the role in a manufacturing precast/production environment.
Technical & Experience
•
3 - 5 years’ experience in a manufacturing precast/production environment
•
In depth technical knowledge of pre-cast manufacturing is essential, has an understanding of pre-cast capabilities, must be able to effectively engage in technical and engineering discussions with Sales Engineers and Production Engineers.
•
Knowledge of maintaining health & safety processes and compliance
