Position Summary

We are seeking a Buyer to join our Operations team. This role plays a critical part in supporting our manufacturing and production workflows by ensuring timely procurement of materials, consumables, and equipment. The ideal candidate will bring purchasing experience, negotiation skills, and a strong focus on accuracy and vendor relationship management.

Key Responsibilities

Order parts and consumables for the shop floor
Obtain price quotations and negotiate with suppliers

Verify purchase requisitions and clarify unclear items
Maintain stock levels and monitor inventory
Prepare purchase orders and verify specifications, pricing, and availability
Expedite and monitor orders to ensure timely delivery
Manage vendor relationships to ensure quality and compliance
Keep accurate and updated records
Source non-inventory items and process warranties/RMAs
Identify and coordinate return of defective parts

Coordinate material availability to support production schedules and customer delivery timelines.

Work closely with production, maintenance, engineering, and warehouse teams.

Manage MRP/ERP planning parameters including reorder points, safety stock, and lead times.

Collaborate with other Buyers on the team as required

Qualifications

Post-secondary diploma in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Procurement or Purchasing, Operations Management, Logistics or any related field

Minimum 2 years of experience in a purchasing or procurement role
Proven experience as a purchasing agent or similar position
Excellent computer skills including MS Office
Syspro ERP knowledge is an asset
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Detail-oriented with the ability to work under pressure
Analytical thinker, especially regarding inventory management
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in manufacturing, retail, distribution, or industrial environments.
• Knowledge of demand forecasting and inventory optimization tools.
• Experience with Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma environments.
