Inclusion Langley Society is a leading non-profit organization providing services and support to children, youth and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities across Langley and surrounding communities. Position Overview

At ILS, we are committed to creating communities where people of all abilities belong, contribute, and thrive. Our Community Support Workers play a vital role in supporting individuals with developmental disabilities to build skills, pursue their goals, strengthen relationships, and participate in meaningful community activities.

Reporting to the Program Supervisor, we have one (1) Regular part-time Community Support Worker position available where the successful incumbent will provide individualized 1:1 support to a person with developmental disabilities. Through your work, you will help create an environment where individuals are empowered, respected and supported to live meaningful and fulfilling lives. The successful incumbent will work collaboratively with individuals, families, colleagues, and community partners to promote independence, dignity, choice, and inclusion.

This role requires a high level of personal care support, including assistance with activities of daily living, meal planning and preparation in accordance with diabetic guidelines and adherence to detailed support plans and data collection requirements. This is a regular part-time position with a Monday to Friday schedule; however, the successful candidate may be required to work after-hour or weekend shifts based on operational needs.

The successful candidate will be able to work effectively in potentially high‑stress environments and apply positive behavioural support strategies and evidence‑based behavioural management principles to support safety, emotional regulation, and positive outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide 1:1 community‑based supports aligned with individual service plans.
Support participation in community, social, and recreational activities.
Implement positive behavioural support and behaviour management strategies.
Respond appropriately to challenging situations while maintaining safety and professionalism.
Complete required documentation and follow organizational policies.

Qualifications

Diploma in Community Social Services or a related field; A combination of experience and education will be considered.
Minimum one year of direct support experience with individuals with developmental disabilities, including those with complex medical or behavioural needs.
Strong understanding of community inclusion, person‑centered practices, and positive behaviour support strategies (training in behavioural intervention is an asset).
Experience supporting individuals in community‑based settings is an asset.
Strong interpersonal, communication, organizational, and time‑management skills.
Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Ability to remain professional, compassionate, and calm in high‑stress situations.
Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Ability to follow prescribed lifting, transferring, and behaviour support techniques.
Flexibility to work varied shifts based on individual needs.

Additional Position Information

This role is designated for Male applicants only, in accordance with bona fide occupational requirements, due to the provision of 1:1 personal care support for a male supported individual with complex needs.
The service is co‑managed collaboratively by the individual’s family and organizational leadership.
The successful candidate will be able to work effectively in potentially high‑stress environments, applying Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) strategies and evidence‑based behavioural management practices to promote skill development, independence, and meaningful participation in the community.
Strong communication skills are essential, with the ability to engage respectfully and effectively with supported individuals, families, and interdisciplinary team members.
Flexibility in scheduling is required, including the ability to transition between individuals and other Community Inclusion services as operational needs evolve.

Requirements

This role requires the incumbent to undergo a Police Information Check (PIC), and a Vulnerable Sector Check by the Ministry of Justice.
Valid Class 4 Driver's License and access to a personal vehicle.
Valid Intermediate First Aid.
Valid MANDT (Technical Level).
