Position Overview

At ILS, we are committed to creating communities where people of all abilities belong, contribute, and thrive. Our Community Support Workers play a vital role in supporting individuals with developmental disabilities to build skills, pursue their goals, strengthen relationships, and participate in meaningful community activities.

Reporting to the Program Supervisor, we have one (1) Temporary part-time Community Support Worker position available where the successful incumbent will be providing person-centered support to four unique individuals with developmental disabilities, and physical, medical and/or mental health challenges. Lifts, transfers and personal care are a requirement of this position. The successful candidate needs to ensure the individuals have the opportunity for overall personal growth, community inclusion, recreation, potential employment, and assist in maintaining/expanding personal networks with a focus on health. The successful incumbents will work collaboratively with individuals, families, colleagues, and community partners to promote independence, dignity, choice, and inclusion.

Schedule: Friday to Monday 3:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide individualized, person-centred residential supports to up to four individuals with intellectual disabilities.
• Promote dignity, respect, self-determination, and individual rights.
• Support individuals to make informed decisions and actively participate in their person-centered plans.
• Assist individuals to participate fully in community life and contribute in ways that are meaningful to them.
• Collaborate with families, support networks, and interdisciplinary professionals.
• Provide support with daily activities, personal care, and health-related needs as required.
• Maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries.
• Participate in team meetings, training, and ongoing professional development.
• Implement positive behavioural support and behaviour management strategies.
• Respond appropriately to challenging situations while maintaining safety and professionalism.
• Complete required documentation and follow organizational policies.
