    Job description

We are looking for a Lead Test Automation Developer to establish and lead a new test automation squad for our music production products.
The squad you lead will select the tools, build the infrastructure, and set the working practices that product squads across the Music Production development team will follow. You will own the technical direction and be hands-on in delivering it.
This role can be either permanently based at our Cambridge UK office or hybrid home/office based. You must qualify for employment in the UK.
    • Lead a new squad delivering inMusic's test automation initiative for music production products.
    • Select, implement, and maintain the automation framework, toolchain, and coding standards used across the initiative.
    • Design and build the CI integration, including multi-platform agent configuration and test reporting.
    • Develop the initial regression suite for a pilot project, establishing the patterns that product squads will follow.
    • Publish and maintain a live coverage and results dashboard giving clear visibility of automation progress and quality across products.
    • Plan and track the squad's work with Jira.
    • Govern the use of AI-assisted test generation: select appropriate tooling, define prompting and review standards, and ensure AI-generated scripts meet quality thresholds.
    • Work closely with the Director of Software Development, product squads and QA to make adopting the framework and its patterns straightforward.
    • Strong test automation experience, including selecting and designing frameworks and building regression suites that stay reliable and maintainable as they grow.
    • Proficient in C++ and scripting languages appropriate to the task, such as Python. JUCE experience is an advantage.
    • Experience with designing and maintaining CI pipelines, ideally with Jenkins, including multi-platform build and test agents.
    • The ability to lead a small squad: setting standards, reviewing work, and planning deliverables.
    • Strong debugging, testing, and technical communication skills.
    • Fluent in spoken English with strong writing skills.
    • Interest in music technology, creator tools, hardware/software integration, or audio workflows.
    • A considered, practical view of AI-assisted test generation and the review discipline needed to use it well.
    • 24 days annual leave (+ public holidays)
    • Private Healthcare
    • Pension scheme
    • inMusic UK Employee Assistance Programme
    • Cycle To Work Scheme
    • Hybrid working options available
    • Staff discount on products sold by inMusic (for personal use only)
    • £1,000 annual allowance for training and development
    • Sick pay
    Why Join Us
    • Work on market leading products used by creators and musicians around the world.
    • Build a new automation capability from the ground up and set its technical direction.
    • Join a practical, creative environment that values clear thinking, customer impact, and measurable outcomes.
