Job Description

GE Aerospace is seeking a Staff Fluid Systems Design Engineer to support the research and development of fluid delivery systems for hypersonic air-breathing propulsion and vehicle systems. In this role, you will work as part of a multidisciplinary engineering team to design, analyze, test, and mature fluid system technologies that support the development of flight-ready hardware.

The ideal candidate has a solid foundation in engineering principles, strong analytical and test capability, and the ability to contribute effectively in a collaborative technical environment. This role offers the opportunity to support advanced propulsion applications through computational analysis, hardware validation, and cross-functional problem solving.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Designing, testing, and implementing fluid delivery systems in support of high-speed engines, most notably hot fuel delivery systems.
• Serves as best practice/quality resource. Has awareness of latest technical developments in own area. Contributes towards strategy and policy development, and ensure delivery within area of responsibility.
• Has in-depth knowledge of best practices and how own area integrates with others; has working knowledge of competition and the factors that differentiate them in the market
• Uses judgment to make decisions or solve moderately complex tasks or problems in areas of operational/product management, manufacturing, technology or engineering. Takes new perspective on existing solutions. Uses technical experience and expertise for data analysis to support recommendations. Uses multiple internal and limited external sources outside of own function to arrive at decisions.
• Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience. May lead small projects with moderate risks and resource requirements. Explains difficult or sensitive information; works to build consensus. Developing persuasion skills required to influence others on topics within field.
• Leads in the development and implementation of Standard Work practices in support of fluid system design, development and testing

Required Qualifications

• Master’s degree from an accredited university or college in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
• 15+ years of experience in aerospace fuel/fluid system engineering, including requirements, interfaces, component definition, design and test
• Experience with fluid system modeling (steady-state and transient) and using test data to calibrate/validate models.
• Demonstrated capability leading and mentoring cross-functional execution with strong technical communication and ownership.
• Skilled with Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel and PowerPoint.
• This position requires U.S. citizenship status.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Security Clearance
• Be willing to work out of an office located in Bohemia, NY or Rockledge, FL

Desired Characteristics

• Experience with static and dynamic testing of fluid system components for ground and flight-test hardware, with an emphasis on hot fuels testing.
• Experience with air-breathing hypersonic propulsion (ramjet/scramjet) or related high-speed propulsion demonstrators.
• Experience with fuel thermal management and high-temperature hydrocarbon fuel systems (including coking/deposit mitigation, thermal stability, materials/seal compatibility).
• Experience with system safety methods (e.g., failure modes thinking, fault management) for fluid systems.
• Experience managing suppliers for component specification, qualification, and acceptance.
• Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.

• Leadership ability: strong communicator, sound decision-maker, and collaborative teammate
• Problem solver: analytical, thoughtful, and willing to challenge existing processes

The base pay range for this position is $156,000 to 207,000 USD Annual.  The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set. This position is also eligible for an annual discretionary bonus based on a percentage of your base salary/ commission based on the plan. This posting is expected to close on December 15th, 2026.
