    Job description

    What You'll Do

    • Manage delivery across multiple engineering teams or an entire domain, defining delivery standards and ensuring consistency, quality, and velocity across teams.
    • Report to C-level stakeholders on progress, risks, and business impact, translating engineering outcomes into business language and strategic recommendations.
    • Own domain-level SDLC governance: align standards across teams while enabling each team to own its practices, eliminate systemic organizational blockers, and define domain-level OKRs, KPIs, and SLAs.
    • Define architecture and technical standards for the domain (or the wider tech organization), collaborating closely with Staff Software Engineers on key architectural decisions.
    • Own platform and infrastructure strategy for the domain, driving technical consistency across teams and reduction of technical debt.
    • Define the domain's AI adoption strategy, represent the domain in the AI Steering Committee/AI Hub, measure AI ROI, and help shape the organization's AI Playbook.
    • Coach and develop Engineering Managers, build a talent pipeline across all levels (including Staff Engineers and future EMs), and design career paths and development programs.
    • Build a high-performance, inclusive engineering culture, escalating difficult personnel situations appropriately to HR and senior leadership.
    • Shape recruitment and process standards, actively attract talent through employer branding and professional networks, and manage the domain's organizational structure (team sizing, roles, dependencies).
    • Communicate strategy and progress to C-level, manage cross-domain dependencies, and build relationships with key business stakeholders; represent InPost Tech externally (conferences, partnerships).
    • Build a feedback and learning culture through systematic mechanisms (360°, pulse surveys, retrospectives) and translate feedback into domain-level action plans.
    • Sponsor and lead cross-team/cross-domain initiatives (architectural reviews, workshops), and actively participate in — or lead — communities of practice.
    • Shape innovation direction for the domain, manage a portfolio of innovation initiatives (AI, new platforms, experimentation), and contribute to Group-level technology strategy.

    Experience

    • 10+ years of overall experience in Software Development / Engineering Leadership. You'll be leading experienced Engineering Managers, so this seniority is essential.
    • Proven experience managing managers (manager-of-managers model) - must have led at least 2 or more teams through other Engineering Managers, not just individual contributors.
    • Hands-on background as a software engineer earlier in your career (even if it was several years ago).

    Knowledge & Skills

    • Proven experience managing Engineering Managers, with a deep understanding of domain-level delivery, SDLC standards, and technical architecture principles.
    • Hands-on technical background in Java and Spring Boot is required, along with solid exposure to backend databases - this is the core stack used across the domain's engineering teams.
    • Experience with cloud platforms - Google Cloud strongly preferred; AWS or Azure exposure is also valued.
    • Strong knowledge of enterprise architecture patterns (microservices, event-driven, API-first).
    • Experience with OKR/KPI frameworks and domain-level metrics.
    • Demonstrated impact of AI adoption on engineering velocity and product quality.
    • Proficiency in Agile, SAFe, or equivalent scaled delivery frameworks.
    • Advanced proficiency in both Polish and English (written and spoken), enabling effective communication with local and international stakeholders.

    Core Competencies

    • Ability to communicate technical strategy to C-level and board-level stakeholders.
    • Expertise in people development - career paths, performance management, and succession planning.
    • Strong understanding of AI adoption frameworks, AI governance, and data security.
    • Proven track record of building high-performing, inclusive engineering cultures.

    Leadership & Organizational Skills

    • Strategic thinking and long-term planning.
    • Conflict resolution and organizational influence.
    • Executive-level communication and stakeholder management.
    • Employer branding and talent acquisition at domain level.
    • Exceptional leadership and mentoring skills, strategic thinking, strong executive communication and influencing capabilities, resilience, empathy, adaptability, clear communication, initiative, organizational agility, and a strong drive for building inclusive, high-performance engineering cultures.

    Nice to have

    • Background in e-commerce or logistics - not required, but it will help you ramp up on the domain faster.
    • Experience at a product-based company
    • Experience with P&L ownership and budget management.
    • Knowledge of AI/ML platforms and emerging technology trends.
    • Experience in board or executive advisory roles.
    • Experience representing a technology organization externally (partnerships, industry forums); published thought leadership or conference speaking experience.
