Web Developer

Day to Day: The Senior Web Developer will work with a large group of passionate technology enthusiasts with great opportunities to experience the challenges and rewards of developing one of the largest sports websites in the world and its associated team sites. Projects include web analytics, streaming video, live scoring, template-driven publishing, design implementation, prototyping, social media integration, and automated syndication of content. The technology stack is a mix of platforms developed in-house, as well as an ever-increasing commitment to open source technologies. -Develops web publishing systems, applications, and microsites across enterprise websites. -Mentors junior web developers on technical issues and modern web development best-practices. -Performs web development, template development, testing, debugging, integration, documentation, and deployment in accordance with industry best practices and specific internal procedures and standards. -Contributes to task identification and work effort estimates for development and maintenance activities. -Participates in the analysis, definition, and scoping of efficient, cost effective application solutions. Consistently meets or exceeds project deadlines. -Works with internal departments to provide associated deliverables required for the successful completion of development assignments (e.g. business development, web designers, end-user training). -Work with other internal technical teams to architect scalable solutions. -Research new technologies; provide ideas for technical or workflow / process improvements. -Provides on-call support as needed.

Must Haves:

-Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience

-5-7 years’ experience developing dynamic web applications on Unix and Linux.

-Thorough understanding of the web, specifically as it relates to browser capabilities and limitations. -Thorough knowledge of: Javascript/jQuery, AJAX, HTML, CSS, XML, 1 or more server side web publishing framework (i.e. PHP, JSP, perl/CGI, or python), GIT, SVN or CVS

-Experience with large scale database-driven web development.

-Analytical and critical thinking skills, as well as strong attention to detail.

-Good interpersonal skills, and written and verbal communication skills.

-Ability to prioritize multiple tasks effectively

Plusses:

-Previous development leadership experience in a web application environment.

-Experience in all phases of web site development and maintenance life cycle.

-Development experience with Drupal, Object Oriented Design, Automation, Unix shell scripting, Freemarker, nosql databases, and XSLT.
