About the Role:

Here at Insmed we are building a cutting edge wet-lab and computational platform to develop therapies for rare genetic diseases.
We are looking for an talented full stack developer, who is also comfortable working close to our cloud infrastructure. As part of the Informatics and Data Science team, you will both build the bioinformatic web-ecosystem that empowers our scientists and assist in the deployment of services in our cloud infrastructure.
You will work in close collaboration with SW developers, DevOps engineers, bioinformaticians, human geneticists, machine learning / data science specialists, wet lab scientists. We are looking for someone who can blend production grade architecture and development of scientific code with expertise in CI/CD, platform scaling, and cloud infrastructure deployment.

What You'll Do:

• Collaborate as part of a multidisciplinary team to help shape the future of data exploration and interpretation at Insmed

• Contribute to the design and implementation of a flexible bioinformatic web-ecosystem empowering our wet-lab scientists and data scientists to get more out of their data

• Engineer, optimise and validate internal pipelines to be flexible, scalable and configurable while maintaining production-quality standards

• Promote data integrity and responsibility by employing best practices for data handling and storage, enabling broad-scale analyses

• Liaise with stakeholders and external collaborators

• Develop and deploy applications and data workflows on the organisation's cloud platform (mostly GCP)

• Build and deploy containerised workloads onto the organisation's managed Kubernetes platform

• Manage CI/CD pipelines, builds and Docker images (GitHub + GCP)

• Support machine learning model deployment, training and inference

Who You Are:

• A degree (or equivalent experience) in computer science, engineering, bioinformatics, biology, machine learning, statistics or a related field.

• Full-stack development experience, with solid coding skills in Python.

• Experience in life-sciences applications, workflows, and systems in the fields of drug development, bioinformatics, or a related field

• Experience designing, maintaining, and interfacing with SQL databases – preferably PostgreSQL.

• Experience with cloud environments (especially GCP)

• Experience with Docker and container-based workflows.

• Experience with CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions).

• Experience with version control using git, with familiarity of different branching and merging strategies.

• Experience coding within a team

• Excellent communication skills to collaborate with our computational, IT, and laboratory science teams.

Good-to-have skills

• JavaScript development skills – preferably Svelte

• Experience deploying machine learning models and optimising deep-learning model training on GPUs

• Experience with Kubernetes

• Experience working with Pydantic & SQLAlchemy

• Experience with Nextflow or other bioinformatics workflow languages

• Experience with ArgoCD and Argo Workflows

• UI/UX experience

• Familiarity with event queues

• Experience developing tools for drug discovery
