At Intelic, we build advanced software for unmanned systems in the defense sector. Based in Amsterdam — with a second office in Kyiv — we are a fast-growing team of engineers and domain experts developing Nexus — an intelligence platform that gives unmanned systems the speed, coordination, and reliability that critical missions demand.
We're moving away from a cloud-first setup towards a largely self-hosted, on-premise environment. That's a deliberate choice — you'll get hands-on ownership of infrastructure from the ground up, the kind of depth you don't often get managing hosted platforms. It also means real scope: a significant jump in maintenance work across roughly 20 servers and 80–100 users.
As we grow, IT support and infrastructure maintenance have outgrown what one person can reasonably cover. We're hiring a Junior System Administrator to take ownership of day-to-day, user-level support, so our senior sysadmin can focus on infrastructure — while you grow into a genuine partner on servers, infrastructure, and security. You'll join a small, mixed infrastructure and security team, right as we build a modern, self-hosted environment from the ground up. There's real room here to learn, experiment, and grow.
User-level tech support runs independently — onboarding, offboarding, day-to-day issues — without needing to escalate the basics
You can independently start and drive the troubleshooting process on server and infrastructure issues
On the security side, you're able to reliably tell a true positive from a false positive
You've contributed hands-on to our cloud-to-on-premise migration, not just observed it
Provide user-level tech support in a technical environment — you're the first point of contact so our senior sysadmin isn't
Handle onboarding and offboarding of users and their equipment
Contribute to infrastructure and server maintenance, and act as a fallback and sparring partner for our senior sysadmin on routine server work
Support the security team in day-to-day operations, including triaging alerts
Get hands-on involvement in our cloud-to-on-premise migration
Bring your own ideas — if you spot something worth improving or building, you'll be expected to scope a proof of concept and given the ownership to implement it
You have genuine eagerness to learn and enthusiasm for the work — this matters more to us than where you studied
You prefer open source solutions over a large Microsoft stack
You have 0–2 years of experience in tech support, help desk, or a junior sysadmin role — ideally backed by an IT-related MBO or university-level education
You've got a home lab or personal projects you've built and can talk about in depth — we'd genuinely love to hear about them, and we care far more about this than certifications
You have a good theoretical understanding of network infrastructure and protocols
You're security-minded: "it just works" isn't good enough for you — it needs to be secure, or it doesn't ship
Fluent English is a must; Dutch fluency is a plus
Real ownership. As one of only a few people working on IT and security, your ideas will have direct input on shaping how we're built
A genuinely modern stack. You won't be managing someone else's Microsoft environment — you'll help build our infrastructure from scratch, with the technical challenges that come with that
