    Overview

    The AI Senior Research Manager, Asia/Pacific, is responsible for achieving the program's financial, business development, and research objectives against assigned targets.

    The Senior Research Manager provides thought leadership to the market on important industry trends and coordinates Asia/Pacific research with work delivered in other regions. They serve as IDC Asia/Pacific Insights' primary research leader across AI, generative AI, and agentic AI strategies, data science, cloud, advanced analytics, machine learning, and data engineering.

    You won’t be just a theorist. This role will give you the opportunity to use AI, data, and automation technologies to advance our research.

    What You'll Do

    Consulting & Research Management

    • Leading the definition, creation, and production of IDC market intelligence products and solutions for the countries or domains under your responsibility.
    • Ensuring IDC's market intelligence meets the needs of existing clients and identifying new opportunities for our capabilities.
    • Maintaining research project planning, scheduling, and tracking.
    • Acting as the external and internal representative of IDC research for your domain.
    • Ensuring the organization produces quality research and analysis by rolling out new and insightful analytical programs, supplemented with thought leadership.
    • Ensuring program profitability and running cost/benefit analysis on custom research projects.
    • Thought leadership and creation of special reports.

     Custom Research

    • Leading AI, data, and analytics consulting and custom research projects.
    • Identifying opportunities, assisting in developing proposals, and helping close consulting sales.
    • Vetting research methodologies and instruments.
    • Creation and delivery of special reports.

    Business Development and Client Management

    • Developing senior executive relationships with clients and key players in the industry.
    • Presenting results at a senior level, or at events, as required.
    • Providing strong support for the sales team in qualifying and closing business.
    • Working with the sales team to develop strategic selling initiatives and account plans.
    • Developing and nurturing a strong client-service mentality in the research team.
    • Acting as the client- and media-facing representative for the program in the region.
    • Project management of fieldwork, subscription programs, and custom research.

    Financial

    • Achieving the financial targets established for the group under your responsibility.
    • Monthly and annual P&L management and reporting for each research area, by product group and type.
    • Annual research budget planning and strategic growth planning.
    • New product planning and positioning.

    What You Bring

    • A flexible, adaptable mind that works at speed. You learn new subjects fast, deliver and respond quickly, and pick up new tools with ease. You're comfortable being trained in areas where you don't yet have experience. We value candidates who want to innovate how research and consulting methodologies can evolve and who are eager to reinvent how research gets done.
    • Working knowledge across one or more of:  data science, analytics, generative and agentic AI.
    • A track record in research, technology, or a related field, with the seniority to lead a program and represent it externally.
    • Effective verbal and written communication when presenting and packaging research deliverables for clients and the public.
    • Excellent English communication skills, written and verbal.
