Position Overview
TRATON R&D US is seeking an Embedded Software Engineer with experience in embedded software development for commercial trucks and buses. The Embedded Software Engineer will be part of a team responsible for delivering software in a High-Performance Compute (HPC) control module that interfaces to a driver display/instrument cluster in the vehicle providing information and feedback to the driver on many aspects of the vehicle.
Responsibilities
- Define and document software requirements based on functional requirements
- Design and implementation of C++ software
- Participate in design reviews, peer reviews, and technical discussions to ensure software quality
- Perform unit testing of software builds using Software-in-the-Loop (SIL) and on target
- Oversee the C++ software development of offshore engineers to address questions and facilitate their success
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams located globally to commonize on development processes and resolve issues
- Support troubleshooting to resolve software issues during vehicle development and testing phases
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology or Computer Science and at least 5 years of product design/development and/or computer science experience
- At least 1 years of lead experience
OR
- Master’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology or Computer Science and at least 3 years of product design/development and/or computer science experience
- At least 1 years of lead experience
OR
- PhD in Engineering, Engineering Technology or Computer Science and at least 1 year of product design/development and/or computer science experience
- At least 1 years of lead experience

Desired Skills
- Strong knowledge and experience with software design in an embedded C++ environment
- Familiarity with delivering software within the TRATON OS software architecture
- Capable of working collaboratively with cross-functional teams located globally
- Deliver software using the Agile process and methodologies
- Able to provide technical leadership to other team members
- Experience using JIRA, Gitlab, Confluence
- Understanding of CAN communication
- Strong communicator
