Iron Mountain is seeking a detail-oriented, reliable Computer Technician to join our IT & Test Engineering team in Cork. In this role, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting enterprise hardware and software systems while developing automation scripts and administering databases to support seamless IT and test operations.
What You'll Do (Responsibilities)
In this role, you will:
- Hardware & Software Administration: Install, configure, and maintain enterprise-level hardware and software systems to ensure operational performance and reliability.
- Debugging & Technical Support: Provide technical support and resolve complex technical issues through systematic logical debugging and troubleshooting.
- Automation & Scripting: Develop, deploy, and maintain custom automation scripts using Python and Bash to streamline internal processes.
- Database Administration: Administer, maintain, and support relational databases, including MySQL, PostgreSQL, and MS SQL Server.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with internal team members and adjacent departments to ensure smooth IT & Test operations and alignment across functional areas.
- Documentation & Presentation: Document technical processes clearly and prepare effective presentations tailored for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Compliance & Operational Standards: Maintain a high standard of reliability, accountability, and teamwork while ensuring compliance with organizational standards and policies in daily operations.
What You'll Bring (Skills & Qualifications)
The ideal candidate will have:
- Proven experience in an IT Support, Computer Technician, or Test Engineering environment supporting enterprise systems.
- Strong knowledge of enterprise computer hardware, software architectures, and database management (MySQL, PostgreSQL, MS SQL Server).
- Hands-on proficiency in scripting and automation using Python and Bash.
- Proven ability in logical troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, and systematic problem-solving.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
- Relevant degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or equivalent practical experience / industry certifications (e.g., CompTIA A+, Network+).
