Maintenance Technician 1

As a Maintenance Tech 1 at Irwin, you will be responsible for performing maintenance and repair tasks on production equipment, facility systems, and building infrastructure. This role requires the ability to troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues independently, perform scheduled preventive maintenance, and support safe and efficient operations throughout the facility.

Responsibilities

• Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on machinery, mechanical systems, electrical systems, and facility equipment.
• Troubleshoot and repair issues related to motors, conveyors, gearboxes, pumps, electrical panels, pneumatic systems, and other plant equipment.
• Identify worn or damaged parts and replace them as needed.
• Diagnose causes of equipment malfunction and take appropriate corrective action with minimal supervision.
• Collaborate with production staff to minimize downtime and support continuous improvement.
• Assist in installation, setup, and calibration of new machines and equipment.
• Perform light plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and HVAC support tasks.
• Ensure facility safety and cleanliness standards are upheld, including lighting, dock doors, restrooms, and general building upkeep.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance work, inspections, and equipment performance.
• Communicate issues, parts needs, or delays to supervisors and relevant departments.
• Support compliance with company safety, health, and environmental regulations.
• Follow all safety protocols, lockout/tagout procedures, and use of PPE.
• Identify and report safety hazards and participate in corrective actions.
• Ensure all repairs and installations comply with safety and code requirements.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; technical or vocational training preferred.
•  2–4 years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing, production, or facilities environment.
• Proficient with hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment.
• Working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics.
• Familiarity with maintenance tracking systems is a plus.
• Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physically demanding tasks.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts.  The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt\Hourly
The base salary range for this full-time position is $52,000 - $62,000. Within this range, individual pay is determined based on several factors, including but not limited to: relevant work experience, job-related knowledge, skills, and complexity of the role.
