International Payroll Manager

We are looking for a highly experienced International Payroll Manager to oversee payroll operations across EMEA and APAC, covering multiple countries and legal entities. This is a critical regional leadership role, combining operational accountability for accurate, compliant and timely payroll delivery with a major payroll transformation agenda over the first two years.

The Payroll Lead will ensure strong governance across regional and locally managed payrolls, lead and develop the payroll team and partner closely with HR, Finance, Global Mobility, HRIS, local payroll contacts and external providers.

Responsibilities:

• Lead regional payroll operations across EMEA and APAC, ensuring payroll is accurate, timely, compliant and appropriately controlled.
• Review and approve monthly payrolls, partnering with local HR teams where payroll is managed in-country.
• Drive the regional payroll transformation programme, ensuring transitions are compliant, well governed and delivered to schedule.
• Drive vendor consolidation, moving from a fragmented multi-vendor landscape to a single strategic payroll provider
• Partner on systems integration with the Payroll Project Manager, HRIS and Workday Integration Specialist to move from manual processes toward an integrated payroll model with Workday and Replicon.
• Standardize, simplify and automate payroll processes, while protecting local compliance requirements and maintaining strong controls.
• Lead the payroll workstream for Merges & Acquisitions activity, partnering with International HR to assess, onboard and integrate acquired entities into the regional payroll model.
• Support new-country and entity set-up, including establishing payroll operations, provider onboarding, transition planning and post-implementation stabilization.
• Strengthen payroll governance and documentation, including policies, procedures, end-to-end process maps, controls, handovers and local requirements.
• Manage provider performance and continuous improvement, holding vendors accountable for service quality, statutory updates, issue resolution and automation opportunities.
• Partner with Finance, HR and Global Mobility on reconciliations, reporting, audits, expatriate tax matters and payroll-related data.
• Lead and develop the payroll team of six members, creating clear ownership, accountability, capability and a strong service culture across multiple countries and time zones.

Requirements

• 7+ years of international payroll experience across multiple countries and legal entities
• Proven experience leading payroll transformation, payroll provider transitions or vendor consolidation
• Experience in payroll integration projects, including vendor onboarding, system/process migration or implementation of new payroll operating models
• Strong interest and practical experience in process automation and systems improvement; Workday exposure is desirable.
• Credible, highly organized and proactive, with the ability to lead through complexity, manage competing deadlines and provide clear stakeholder updates.
• Strong knowledge of payroll controls, compliance, audit requirements, confidential data handling and payroll reporting.
• Preferably experience supporting payroll integration for M&A activity, new entities or new-country set-up
