Position Summary

Responsible for the servicing of pump sets and associated equipment including manufacturing and fabricating along with the repair of fittings,fixtures, structures associated with pumping equipment.

Essential Responsibilities

Responsible for the strip down, assessment, measurement and reporting on pumps/rotating equipment sent in for repair

Liaise with Manager, Service/Supervisor, Service in order to assess any technical requirements that may affect prospective work or work in progress

Service and assembly of pump sets and associated equipment including repair of fittings, fixtures and structures

Perform spray painting using single pack enamel paint

Maintain cleanliness and safety of work area and workshop equipment and maintain tools and equipment in operating condition and advise supervisor of deficiencies

Remove impellers for turndown and refit the same and complete impeller turndowns

Complete rotating equipment alignment to nominated tolerances using dial indicators or laser equipment

Complete the assembly of close-coupled pumps, gearboxes and motors

Complete the set out and drilling of equipment skids

Manufacture simple sheet metal coupling guards

Follow written instructions and complete all nominated checkpoints before handover of paperwork

Provide timely advice to Supervisor for service of stock deficiencies to allow replacement for workshop and site work

Demonstrate an ability to fault find and self-manage so as to avoid unnecessary breakage or lost time through incorrect fitting techniques

Complete hydrostatic tests to nominated standards and as per specific directions

Any other tasks as advised by their Manager or Supervisor that are within their skills and competence.

Position Requirements

Education / Qualifications

• Trade certificate in Mechanical Fitting
• High Risk Work Licence – Dogging and Forklift desirable

Experience

• Minimum 6 years practical experience in Mechanical Fitting (6 years is inclusive of apprenticeship)
• Minimum 6 years practical experience and knowledge with various pump types e.g centrifugal, diaphragm, single stage and multi-stage, slurry, and horizontal split
• Experience with pump laser alignment desirable

Other

• Must have excellent communication and organisation skills, have the ability to work in and foster a team environment and have a strong focus on health and safety
• Basic computer and Microsoft Office skills including PowerPoint, Excel and Word

Fitness for Work

• Employees are required to present themselves to work in a fit for work state at all times
• Must be able to perform physical movements include constantly bending over or down, kneeling, crouching, reaching and standing; and frequently balancing, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, repetitive movement, climbing and walking

Must be willing and able to participate in drug and alcohol testing at all times.
