    Position Summary

    The Underwriting Assistant provides administrative and operational support to the underwriting team and retail agents. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented insurance professional with 3-5 years of experience who is looking to develop underwriting knowledge and build a long-term career in commercial insurance.

    This role is an in-office position in our Red Bank, NJ office. 

    Key Responsibilities

    • Support retail agents and underwriters by gathering required information and documentation through agency management systems, tasks, reminders, and Outlook.
    • Order, review, and process inspections, including handling discrepancies and underwriting recommendations.
    • Process cancellation and reinstatement notices in a timely and accurate manner.
    • Manage pre-audit correspondence, closed-even audits, and premium-bearing audits.
    • Report claims and provide claim reporting confirmations to agents and insureds.
    • Process policy endorsements and related documentation.
    • Maintain accurate underwriting files and ensure documentation is complete and up to date.
    • Deliver excellent customer service to internal and external business partners.
    • Assist with renewal preparation and gradually learn renewal quoting and underwriting functions to support professional development.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree preferred, or equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience.
    • 3-5 years of insurance industry experience, within Commercial Property & Casualty (P&C), ideally in binding and programs.
    • Exposure to underwriting support, policy processing, customer service, or agency operations preferred.
    • Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational and time management skills.
    • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
    • Proven ability to work collaboratively within a team environment while maintaining high service standards.
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word; experience with agency management systems is a plus.

    The base salary offered for the successful candidate will be based on compensable factors such as job-relevant education, job-relevant experience, training, licensure, demonstrated competencies, geographic location, and other factors. Discretionary incentive compensation may be awarded.
