HSE Policy Implementation
Support development and rollout of HSE policies, procedures, and SOPs across all JIB locations
Ensure all staff are aware of and comply with HSE requirements
Risk Assessment & Hazard Management
Conduct workplace risk assessments and job hazard analyses
Maintain risk registers
Implement and monitor corrective and preventive actions
Incident Reporting & Investigation
Manage the incident reporting system
Conduct or support incident investigations
Compile incident reports and ensure corrective actions are closed out
Report to Head of HR and Country MD as required
Safety Inspections & Audits
Conduct regular workplace safety inspections and internal HSE audits
Identify non-conformances and track closure of findings
Support external HSE audits
Safety Training & Awareness
Coordinate and deliver HSE induction training for new joiners
Develop and deliver ongoing safety awareness programmes
Maintain HSE training records
Regulatory Compliance
Monitor HSE legislation and regulatory requirements across all JIB operating countries
Maintain compliance calendars
Coordinate regulatory inspections and submissions
Emergency Preparedness
Develop and maintain emergency response plans and evacuation procedures
Coordinate emergency drills and tabletop exercises
Liaise with local emergency services where required
HSE Reporting & Documentation
Compile monthly/quarterly HSE statistics (LTIs, near-misses, first aid cases)
Maintain HSE documentation registers
Prepare reports for management and regulatory bodies
PPE & Safety Equipment Management
Manage PPE procurement, issuance, and inspection
Ensure adequate stock of safety equipment
Coordinate maintenance and testing of safety-critical equipment
Any other duties as assigned by the Business.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or related field
NEBOSH General Certificate (or equivalent) required
NEBOSH Diploma or IOSH Managing Safely certification an advantage
Membership of a relevant HSE professional body (e.g. IOSH) preferred
Experience
3-5 years in an HSE coordination or officer role
Experience in a multi-site or multinational environment preferred
Knowledge of HSE legislation in sub-Saharan Africa or international HSE frameworks (ISO 45001, ISO 14001) an advantage
Experience in waste management, construction, or industrial/operations environment desirable
Skills
