KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop, implement, and monitor health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures in line with local regulations and industry best practices.
Conduct routine inspections, risk assessments, job hazard analyses, and safety audits across the recycling plant, compost yard, and loading/unloading areas.
Train employees on HSE procedures, safe equipment handling, chemical safety, emergency response, and PPE usage.
Lead incident investigations, identify root causes, prepare reports, and follow up on corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
Ensure regulatory compliance with environmental health, occupational safety, and waste management standards.
Maintain accurate records of training, inspections, accidents, and compliance documents.
Coordinate emergency preparedness activities, including fire drills and spill-response simulations.
Promote a strong safety culture across departments by driving awareness and behavioral safety initiatives.
Liaise with regulators, auditors, community representatives, and management on safety-related matters.
SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
Knowledge of Ghana’s Environmental Protection Agency regulations or local jurisdiction standards.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to influence safe behaviour and drive a positive safety culture.
Attention to detail and ability to multitask.
Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION
Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or related field.
Professional certification such as NEBOSH/IOSH or equivalent
Minimum 2–5 years’ experience in HSE roles, preferably in waste management, or industrial operations.
Strong understanding of hazard control, waste operations, and environmental compliance.
Excellent communication, reporting, and training facilitation skills.
