Founding Engineer (AI)

We're hiring a Founding Engineer (AI) to build the intelligence layer that powers nursing workflows across healthcare. You'll design production AI systems that operate in safety-critical environments, creating the infrastructure, evaluation frameworks, and feedback loops that continuously improve Kabilah as it learns from clinical practice. As one of our first engineers, you'll help define our technical direction, product architecture, and engineering culture from the ground up.

You'll also work directly with hospital executives, nurse leaders, and frontline clinicians to understand their workflows, validate new capabilities, and rapidly turn real-world feedback into product improvements. ### What You'll Do * Build the AI infrastructure powering Kabilah's clinical agents and workflows. * Design evaluation systems that measure and improve accuracy, reliability, and clinical usefulness. * Own integrations with EHRs and other clinical data sources. * Improve latency, observability, and safety across the AI platform. * Partner directly with hospital execs, unit managers, and bedside nurses to understand clinical workflows, demo new capabilities, and rapidly iterate on the product. ### What We're Looking For * Exceptional software engineering skills and experience building production systems. * Experience shipping LLM, agentic, or machine learning products used by real customers. * Strong intuition for designing reliable AI systems, not just prompting models. * Ability to take complex problems from research and experimentation into production. * Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate with both technical teams and healthcare customers. ### What We Require * 3+ years of experience building production software. * Experience building LLM applications, agentic systems, evaluation frameworks, or related AI infrastructure. * Experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, or GCP). * Ability to travel periodically to customer sites and company offsites. ### What We Offer * Meaningful early-stage equity. * Health insurance. * The opportunity to help build a category-defining AI company from the ground up. * Direct collaboration with hospital executives and frontline clinicians. * Flexible PTO and company offsites.
