As a Fraud Technical Specialist, you will play a critical role in strengthening our fraud detection capability and helping protect our customers from financial harm.

    In this role you will be:

    • Developing and maintaining fraud detection rule sets.
    • Loading and maintaining reference tables within fraud detection systems.
    • Retrieving, analysing and interpreting large and complex data sets.
    • Using SQL and other technical coding skills and advanced analytics techniques to design and optimise fraud controls.
    • Performing advanced data analysis to identify trends, risks and opportunities.
    • Monitoring fraud detection performance and recommending improvements.
    • Investigating fraud incidents and providing data insights to support resolution.
    • Benchmarking fraud detection practices against industry standards and emerging trends.
    • Collaborating with business stakeholders to translate technical findings into practical recommendations.
    • Identifying innovative and preventative approaches to strengthen fraud controls and customer protection.

    This is a fixed term contract opportunity ending in June 2027.

    At Kiwibank, we will help you build on your strengths and develop new skills, but in the meantime, we would love to hear from you if you have some of the following skills and experience:

    • Advanced SQL skills and experience working with complex databases
    • Strong coding capabilities and experience using technology to automate or improve processes.
    • Advanced Excel skills, including analysing and manipulating large data sets.
    • Experience designing, implementing or maintaining rules-based systems.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • The ability to identify trends, patterns and emerging fraud risks.
    • Experience presenting technical findings to a non-technical audience.
