Underwriter - General/Professional Liability Summary:
Hiscox USA is currently searching for an experienced, dynamic, engaging and sharp General Liability / Professional Liability Underwriter in San Francisco to drive new business for the Northern California and Pacific Northwest region. This position provides an opportunity to thrive in an entrepreneurial climate that values and rewards thoughtful risk-taking and excellence in execution.
Underwriter - General/Professional Liability Responsibilities include:
- Underwrite, price and negotiate accounts consistent with the quality of the risk and according to the company’s strategy and guidelines for the Professional Risks and General Liability product lines
- Develop new relationships and maintain existing relationships with wholesale brokers throughout the Northern California and Pacific Northwest Region (NoCal, OR, WA, etc)
- Work with operations, claims, finance and marketing to build or enhance products and contribute to the financial performance of the business unit
- Maintain excellent customer service standards
- Monitor product results and develop ideas to increase productivity and profitability
- Be part of a larger professional team in San Francisco, collaborating to drive regional results and develop new opportunities
- At times, 10-25% travel required
Qualifications
- 3-5 years of general liability / professional liability insurance underwriting experience with strong Northern California and Pacific Northwest US broker relationships
- B.A. / B.S degree from an accredited College or University required
- Outgoing, driven, high attention to detail and results-focused mentality
- Strong understanding of basic sales principles, negotiation skills and demonstrate a competitive drive
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work independently in a collaborative environment
- Innate service focus which enables one to effectively interact with all levels of internal and external customers and partners
