About the Job
The Junior IT Support/System Administrator provides frontline technical support to employees across multiple office locations, ensuring reliable access to hardware, software, network resources, and collaboration tools. This role is responsible for onboarding and offboarding processes, user account administration, equipment deployment and maintenance, inventory management, and basic network troubleshooting. The position serves as a key liaison between employees, vendors, and our internal IT teams, delivering exceptional customer service while supporting organizational technology infrastructure and maintaining security and operational standards.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities
- User, Peripheral & Room Support: Act as the first point of contact for technical issues and requests for hardware, software, and peripheral devices. Troubleshoot and resolve issues with end users.
- Onboarding & Offboarding: Set up, configure, and deploy workstations, laptops, and mobile devices for new hires. Securely deprovision accounts, device retrieval and ensure security protocols are followed for departing employees.
- Account Management: Manage user permissions, email groups, and access controls within Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, and Active Directory.
- System Maintenance: Assist with regular software updates, security patches, hardware upgrades, and routine system backups.
- Site Management: Regularly detect and report any issues with Infrastructure at local sites to ensure that offices are setup and maintained according to KP standards.
- Inventory Control: Maintain an accurate inventory for all office locations including hardware, software licenses, and IT assets.
- Network Assistance: Help troubleshoot basic local network connectivity issues, including Wi-Fi, VPNs, switches, and printers.
- Documentation: Create and maintain clear, up-to-date documentation for IT processes, troubleshooting steps, and user guides for both site specific and global usage.
- Vendor Management: Act as the day-to-day point of contact for IT suppliers, addressing inquiries and routing issues to senior IT & management, as needed.
- Emergency Support: Provide limited after-hours and weekend operations support for business-critical emergencies.
Candidate Profile
- Education: Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or minimum of 2-4 years relevant work experience
- Bilingual in English required
- Programming knowledge required, preferably Python
- OS Knowledge: Strong familiarity with Windows 11 and Linux environments.
- Core Concepts: Basic understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPNs) and cybersecurity best practices.
- Problem Solving: Proven track record of taking initiative to identify, diagnose and resolve systemic technical debt efficiently without direct supervision.
- Communication: Ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear documentation and user-facing instructions.
- Customer Service: Service-minded, good at establishing relationships and providing reliable customer support to both local stakeholders and stakeholders within the IT team.
- Autonomy: A self-starter with the ability to manage the day-to-day needs of an on-site office.
Preferred Qualifications
- Foundational industry certifications (e.g., CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+, or Microsoft Certified: Fundamentals).
- Basic scripting knowledge (PowerShell or Bash) for automation tasks.
- Some experience with automation tools to push software updates and security patches to managed devices.
