Position Type: Permanent Part-Time (0.80 FTE)
Hours of Work: Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.

The Kee Tas Kee Now Tribal Council is comprised of the five member Nations; Loon River First Nation – #476, Lubicon Lake Band – #453, Peerless Trout First Nation – #478, Whitefish Lake First Nation – #459 and Woodland Cree First Nation – #474, and is responsible for providing guidance and support to the individual member First Nations in developing and achieving success in the management and administration of their own programs with the intent of developing self-reliance.

Kee Tas Kee Now (KTC) Tribal Council is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our Home Care team This is an exciting opportunity to provide meaningful, culturally safe care while supporting individuals and families in Northern Alberta First Nations communities.

As a Home Care Nurse, you will work to your full LPN scope of practice, providing comprehensive home care services, coordinating client care, supervising Health Care Aides (HCAs), and collaborating with a multidisciplinary healthcare team to improve health outcomes.

What You'll Do

• Manage a caseload of clients, including admissions, assessments, care planning, family conferences, wound care, and palliative care.
• Coordinate and collaborate with Registered Nurses, Health Care Aides, physicians, and other healthcare professionals.
• Supervise and schedule Health Care Aides to ensure quality client care.
• Complete client assessments to determine appropriate care and living arrangements.
• Coordinate respite care, transition care, and long-term care placement applications.
• Support clients transitioning safely from hospital back to their homes.
• Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation and health records.
• Follow best practice guidelines, including FNIHB standards and Wounds Canada recommendations.
• Provide culturally respectful care that reflects the values, traditions, and customs of the Nations served.
• Educate clients and families while promoting independence and wellness.

What You Bring

Required Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Practical Nursing program.
• Active registration (or eligibility for registration) with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA).
• Current Basic Cardiac Life Support – Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification.
• Valid Class 5 driver's licence.
• Comfortable driving in all weather conditions, including winter travel.

Preferred Qualifications

• Three (3) years of Home Care Nursing experience.
• Experience with:
  • Case management
  • RAI assessments
  • Care planning
  • Wound management
  • Palliative care
• Experience supervising Health Care Aides is considered an asset.
• Equivalent combinations of education and experience will also be considered.

Skills & Knowledge

The successful candidate will have:

• Strong assessment, clinical decision-making, and organizational skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative healthcare team.
• Knowledge of Indigenous health issues and culturally safe healthcare practices.
• Understanding of Indigenous/Cree culture and communities (Cree language is an asset).
• Experience using electronic health records, including Netcare and Okaki-CARE.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Teams, Word, and Excel.

Working Conditions

• This is an in-person position.
• Candidates must reside in, or within a reasonable commuting distance of, the KTC service communities.
• Daily travel between KTC member First Nations communities is required.
• Occasional overnight stays are required when travelling to other KTC member communities or for meetings and training.
• Occasional travel to the KTC Edmonton sub-office and other meeting locations is required.
• Work is primarily community-based in remote Northern Alberta First Nations and involves regular home visits.
• The successful candidate must be comfortable travelling on rural and northern roads in all seasons and weather conditions.
