The Production Supervisor oversees daily manufacturing activities for control panels, electromechanical assemblies, and switchgear, leading assigned employees and coordinating workflow to meet safety, quality, delivery, and productivity expectations. This is a hands-on role that assists with production work as needed to maintain workflow and meet customer commitments.

The role assigns work, monitors production performance, ensures employees have the materials, tools, training, and information needed to succeed, and responds promptly to safety, quality, equipment, and schedule issues.

The Production Supervisor promotes teamwork, accountability, lean manufacturing, and continuous improvement while tracking key performance indicators and escalating issues as appropriate.

Essential Functions/Accountabilities:

•    Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of assigned production employees.
•    Maintain an organized production workspace and ensure production equipment and tools are used properly and remain available for work.
•    Enforce safety policies, required procedures, and quality standards; address hazards, incidents, and nonconformances promptly.
•    Review production priorities and schedules, assign work, balance labor, and adjust workflow to support on-time completion.
•    Monitor production status, labor hours, equipment uptime, scrap, rework, and other key performance indicators; communicate results and corrective actions to management.
•    Verify that employees have the materials, drawings, work instructions, tools, and training required to complete assigned work.
•    Train, coach, and develop employees; provide timely feedback, reinforce expectations, and address performance or attendance concerns in accordance with company policy.
•    Lead shift or team meetings to communicate safety topics, quality requirements, production goals, schedule priorities, and operational updates.
•    Investigate production disruptions and quality issues, identify root causes, implement corrective actions, and escalate issues when additional support is needed.
•    Champion lean manufacturing, standard work, workplace organization, waste reduction, and continuous improvement activities.
•    Collaborate with Production Management, Engineering, Quality, Procurement, Shipping, and Maintenance to resolve constraints and improve safety, quality, delivery, and cost performance.
•    Monitor staffing and skill coverage; recommend overtime, cross-training, or other adjustments based on production demand.
•    Review production orders and documentation for accuracy, completeness, and timely reporting.
•    Support shipping readiness by confirming completed orders meet quality, documentation, and scheduling requirements.
•    Foster a culture of teamwork, urgency, transparency, accountability, and right-first-time quality.
•    Provide hands-on production support as needed, including assisting with the assembly, wiring, inspection, testing, troubleshooting, and completion of control panels and related electromechanical assemblies.
•    Perform other production-related duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position directly supervises assigned production employees and may coordinate work with shipping and support personnel as needed to meet production requirements.

Work Environment:

•    This role entails working indoors in a typical office and industrial environment, as well as traveling outdoors to customer accounts and conducting on-site visits.
•    Able to wear personal protective equipment such as hearing protection, hard hats, safety glasses, safety-toed boots, etc.

Physical demands:

Occasional travel by airplane and/or automobile conducting business is expected. The ability to communicate orally with customers, management, and other co-workers, both individually and in front of a group is crucial. Regular use of the telephone and e-mail for communication is essential.

Activities may involve prolonged periods of standing or sitting, as well as significant time spent working at a computer or similar device. Hearing and vision within normal ranges are essential for normal conversations, receiving ordinary information, and preparing or inspecting documents.

Occasional lifting of heavy objects is expected. Good manual dexterity for the use of shop tools, and common office equipment such as computer terminals, copiers, Fax machines, etc.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:

This is a full-time position. Typical days and hours of work are Monday through Friday 7:00 am – 4:00 pm.

Travel required:

•    10% to customer sites, trade shows, etc.

Required education and experience:

•    High school diploma or equivalent; technical, manufacturing, or business coursework is preferred.
•    Three years of experience in industrial manufacturing, including electromechanical assemblies, automation systems, switchgear, or a related environment.
•    At least one year of team-lead or supervisory experience in a manufacturing setting.
•    Demonstrated ability to lead employees in meeting safety, quality, productivity, and on-time delivery expectations.
•    Working knowledge of production processes, work instructions, scheduling, quality controls, and performance reporting.
•    Electrical and mechanical aptitude, with the ability to interpret applicable electrical and mechanical drawings and specifications.
•    Working familiarity with industrial control panels and electromechanical assemblies, including components, panel layouts, wiring practices, assembly methods, and applicable production and quality requirements.

Preferred education and experience:

•    Associate degree or higher in manufacturing, engineering technology, operations, business, or a related field.
•    Experience with automated manufacturing processes and systems.
•    Experience applying lean manufacturing and continuous improvement principles.
•    Familiarity with hydraulic power unit manufacturing.
