Job Summary:

The Video and Digital Content Specialist is responsible for planning, creating, delivering, and evaluating multi-channel digital content in support of the College’s strategic goals and objectives. The position must have a strong background in filming, editing, and producing videos. This position supports the team to publish content that is timely, engaging, and informative for Langara’s online community across multiple platforms. This position develops and executes creative digital content both independently and in collaboration with Communications and Marketing Services (C&M) and other departments (e.g., Langara Global, Advancement Office, Langara Alumni, etc.). The position collaborates closely with the Digital Marketing Specialist on social media campaigns an incumbent reviews website and social media metrics on a regular basis and identifies new opportunities for campus and community engagement initiatives. This position works with both internal and external audiences to achieve communications goals according to work performance standards set by the College.

Job Description:

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Creates long and short form video for Langara College’s websites, social media accounts, email campaigns, and digital signage in alignment with the College’s brand voice. Storyboards, scripts, films, edits, produces, and distributes videos for the College’s digital channels. This may include campus events, faculty and staff interviews, orientation material, public service announcements, and B-roll. Selecting and supervising external vendors may be required to support major projects.
• Provides project management support for video projects (i.e., establishes resources, tools, time and budget). Provides support for on-campus photography. Creates and supports the Digital Marketing Specialist to post video content on the College social media channels (You Tube, TikTok, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, and other social media platforms) in a way that informs and generates conversation. Supports Digital Marketing Specialist to respond to social media engagements Organizes and expands the video media library- currently the video archive is organized in project basis. Develops and maintains a College-wide video content calendar for major content marketing initiatives. Provides support in administrating the College’s digital signage network and creates content that is appropriate and timely for the platform. Monitors and reports on video engagement and uses metrics to maximize content that generates engagement.
• Keeps up with current digital trends and constantly evaluates existing and emerging platforms. Maintains currency on industry trends, best practices, and new technologies.
• Collaborates with Communications & Marketing team and clients across the College to produce and execute major campaigns. Ensures that all materials produced are consistent with College brand standards.
• Researches and provides input to the departments acquisition of tools and/or software such as digital asset management systems and production software.
• Participates in client meetings, presenting creative concepts and draft materials for client approval.
• Performs other related duties and/or projects as required.

Qualifications Required:

Education & Experience

• Successful completion of a two-year diploma program in film, digital media production, journalism, graphic design, communications, or marketing.
• Additional specialised training in video production or similar training, required.
• Minimum four (4) years of recent related experience in digital media, including strong video production skills, photography, social media, and writing / editing within an Apple Mac environment.
• An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered.
• Experience in higher education, advancement, or international marketing an asset.
• Experience producing short videos and photos for immediate use on social media to tell timely stories as they occur.
• Considerable experience managing a large organization’s digital presence, including experience with content marketing strategies and tactics.
• Strong writer, editor, and proofreader with an ability to identify and write engaging content.
• Proficiency in video editing software (Final Cut Pro, iMovie, etc.), Adobe Creative Cloud (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, etc.), and photo and video editing apps.
• Demonstrated social media management fluency (YouTube, TikTok, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, Snapchat, Flickr, etc.) Knowledge of international social media platforms an asset.

Hours & Days of Work: Monday through Friday, 8:30 am to 4:30 pm
