Looking for a hands-on role where no two days are the same? Join our Workshop team and play an important part in keeping Council's plant, fleet and equipment operating safely and efficiently. Whether you're supporting mechanical repairs, assisting with fabrication projects, delivering parts or operating workshop equipment, you'll work alongside skilled tradespeople while contributing to services and infrastructure that benefit the Lake Macquarie community every day.

As a Trades Assistant within our Workshop team, you'll provide essential support to tradespeople to help maintain Council's fleet, plant and workshop operations. Your work will include assisting with servicing and repairs, fabrication and installation activities, cleaning and preparing equipment, materials handling and providing support within the tyre bay and tool store functions.

This is a practical, hands-on role that requires a strong focus on safety, teamwork and customer service. You'll assist with sourcing and collecting parts and equipment, operate vehicles and plant, support workshop logistics and help ensure the workshop remains clean, organised and operating efficiently.

Working closely with experienced tradespeople, you'll have the opportunity to broaden your skills while contributing to the delivery of high-quality services across the city. LET’S HEAR ABOUT YOU

You're a reliable and safety-focused team player with experience working in an automotive, mechanical or workshop environment. You enjoy practical work, have a strong work ethic and take pride in delivering quality outcomes. You're willing to jump in and help wherever needed, communicate effectively with a range of people and are committed to providing excellent customer service to both internal and external customers.

You must also meet the following criteria:

• School Certificate or equivalent qualification
• Current experience assisting in an automotive or mechanical engineering workshop
• Demonstrated commitment to providing excellent customer service
• Confined Spaces Entry training, or willingness to undertake the training
• Forklift (LF) licence
• Current Class C driver's licence
