    Job description

    The Volunteer Manager will manage the volunteer program, ensuring smooth operations and alignment with organizational goals. This role is responsible for effectively engaging volunteers and maintaining a well-run program. The ideal candidate will have an outgoing, engaging personality and be skilled at building relationships with potential volunteers.

    Key responsibilities include managing the volunteer application process, providing staff training and ongoing support, maintaining consistent communication, and coordinating volunteer engagement efforts. This role will collaborate closely with departmental directors to ensure volunteers are properly processed and assigned to service areas within the ministry.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Manage new volunteer applications
    • Maintain consistent communication with applicants throughout the interview process
    • Coordinate with the departmental directors to integrate volunteers effectively into service areas, projects, and initiatives
    • Prepare and coordinate New Staff Volunteer Training, as well as additional training opportunities ensuring all tasks related to training are completed
    • Aptitude for training and giving ministry presentations
    • Manage and track required AAAHC training for volunteers
    • Represent Life Network at ministry fairs, churches, and community events to recruit and engage new volunteers
    • Manage, maintain and become an expert in the volunteer management software, and train staff to utilize the software as needed, ensuring accurate and up-to-date volunteer records
    • Respond to all inquiries regarding individual or workgroup volunteer projects at Life Network
    • Organize on-site volunteer community work groups to ensure effective coordination and a positive experience for all participants
    • Arrange and manage Sneak Peek events to introduce potential volunteers to the organization’s work and mission
    • Plan and execute the annual volunteer appreciation event
    • Implement quarterly communications to keep volunteers informed, connected, and engaged
    • Ability to stay calm, patient, and encouraging with volunteers and staff in fast-paced or unpredictable conditions

    EXPERIENCE

    • A combination of college education and/or professional experience in a related field
    • Previous volunteer management preferred
    • Experience with databases

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Strong advocate for the sanctity of life issues
    • Possesses Christian testimony with evidence of Christian maturity in personal and professional life
    • Active commitment to a local church
    • A passion for the ministry accomplished through Life Network and a heart for reaching the lost of our community/world with the Gospel
    • Demonstrates excellence in interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
    • Self-motivated and demonstrates initiative
    • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple time-sensitive tasks effectively
    • Proficiency in Word, Outlook, and Excel

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

    • Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods
    • Frequent use of a computer, volunteer software, and phone for administrative tasks
    • Occasional bending, reaching, and carrying when coordinating events and volunteer activities
    • Ability to occasionally lift to 20–30 lbs. of presentation or event materials
    • Visual, hearing, and verbal ability sufficient to communicate with staff, volunteers, and the public
    • Ability to travel to ministry fairs, churches, and community events as needed

    CLASSIFICATION

    Full-time at 32 hours per week. Wages: $23.00 - $27.00 per hour. Scheduled hours are Monday through Friday with flexibility for weekends and evenings during events. Reports to the Staff and Client Care Director.
