Our Physician Practices team is committed to providing an efficient and welcoming experience for patients throughout their care journey. As a Medical Office Assistant, you will provide essential front-office and administrative support to patients, providers, and other members of the healthcare team. This role assists with scheduling, patient registration, referrals, pre-certifications, payment collection, and maintaining accurate patient information to help ensure the smooth operation of the practice.

How you’ll contribute

A Medical Office Assistant who excels in this role:

• Schedules and registers patients and maintains accurate patient information within the computer system.
• Obtains referrals and pre-certifications as required.
• Schedules referral appointments as necessary or as instructed by the provider.
• Performs administrative and clerical duties including reception, filing, scheduling, data entry, and patient registration.
• Reviews provider orders prior to the patient leaving the clinic.
• Obtains informed consent for invasive procedures.
• Posts charges, completes required paperwork, and collects co-pays, deductibles, and outstanding account balances.
• Assists with end-of-day balancing and closing procedures, including preparing deposits for courier pickup.
• Maintains examination areas, equipment, and medical supplies, including stocking, cleaning, reordering, and basic troubleshooting.
• Assists with maintaining office supply inventory and appropriate stock levels to support efficient workflow.
• Demonstrates a working knowledge of applicable infection control policies.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Applicants should possess a high school diploma or equivalent. Additional requirements include:

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• No license required.
• No certifications required.
• Critical thinking skills and decisive judgment.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Ability to work effectively in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
• Ability to perform administrative and clerical functions in a healthcare practice setting.
• Ability to maintain accurate patient information and handle confidential information appropriately.
