Overview:

The Quality Assurance (QA) Engineer supports implementation and continuous improvement of Lightbridge’s Quality Assurance Program in all activities in alignment with nuclear industry standards, regulatory requirements, and customer expectations. This role ensures that all engineering, manufacturing, testing, procurement, and supply chain activities supporting nuclear fuel development and commercial deployment of Lightbridge Fuel™ meet the highest standards of safety, reliability, traceability, and compliance.  The software quality process will be a primary focus for this role.  The QA Engineer will work under the direction of the QA Manager and interface with all departments.

Responsibilities:

• Maintain documentation and records to ensure compliance with ASME NQA-1 and other requirements
• Support and track Software Quality Assurance activities, including software requirements, verification and validation, testing, configuration management, change control, and documentation for nuclear safety-related design and analysis software
• Support evaluation and qualification of commercial software, including Commercial Grade Dedication where applicable
• Conduct and support internal and supplier audits and track findings through resolution
• Maintain approved vendor list and supplier corrective actions
• Identify and control nonconforming products and document on Nonconformance Reports (NCRs), root cause analysis, corrective actions, and effectiveness reviews
• Work with other staff to continuously improve processes
• Provide QA oversight for nuclear fuel design, analysis, testing, and qualification activities.
• Ensure engineering processes follow approved procedures, design control requirements, and configuration management standards

Required Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, or related technical field
• Minimum 7 years of QA experience in nuclear industry, preferably in manufacturing, metals processing, or industrial facility environment
• Advanced knowledge of Software Quality Assurance (SQA) processes in nuclear environment, including SQA Plans, Commercial Grade Dedication, Verification & Validation, etc.
• Demonstrated working knowledge of nuclear requirements including ASME NQA-1
• Experience conducting or supporting audits and assessments
• Working knowledge of software verification and validation, configuration management, testing, and change control
• Strong documentation skills, with experience preparing procedures, reports, and records

Preferred Qualifications:

• Certified Software Quality Engineer through the American Society for Quality (ASQ)
• Experience with 10 CFR Part 21 reporting and applicable NRC requirements
• Nuclear QA records management process implementation experience
• Some experience with non-destructive examination processes
• Advanced knowledge of operational procedures and their development
• Experience supporting facility startup, readiness reviews, or new process development
• Practical understanding of nuclear plant components and configuration, especially the nuclear fuel cycle
• Experience with NRC licensing process and activities, and NQA-1 certification
• Experience with Commercial Grade Dedication (CGD) of software
