Absenteeism Specialist

Are you detail-oriented, proactive, and passionate about supporting employees and managers through critical moments in the employee lifecycle? We are looking for an Absenteeism Specialist to join our People Operations team in Rotterdam.

In this role, you will be the expert supporting sickness absence processes, long-term illness administration, social security compliance, and stakeholder coordination. You will work closely with managers, People Partners, occupational health providers, payroll, finance, and external vendors to ensure a smooth and compliant employee experience.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and maintain absenteeism records in We-Care, Workday, UWV and other relevant systems.
• Support managers with absence-related administration and provide guidance on reporting sickness and recovery. Work closely with people partners and external absenteeism vendor to stay updated on sickness cases.
• Monitor long-term sickness cases and ensure timely registrations, notifications and deregistrations with external authorities and insurers.
• Coordinate absenteeism-related communications and follow-up actions with internal and external stakeholders.
• Prepare monthly and periodic absence reports, ensuring accurate and confidential data handling.
• Process occupational health and intervention requests and support administrative follow-up.
• Manage correspondence and actions related to UWV, Nationale Nederlanden and other external partners.
• Coordinate employee allowance and benefit adjustments during long-term absence and reintegration.

Who we are looking for

You are customer-oriented and passionate about employee experience! You have high energy and drive and efficiently manage resolution of every employee query.

As for the skillset and experience, we are looking for:

• Up-to-date knowledge of the ways Dutch social security system works in relation to absenteeism
• Experience in absenteeism management is preferred
• Dutch and English language skills in word and writing is a must
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills, ability to manage conflict, and attention to detail
• Hands-on team player with a people-oriented attitude who is able to work in a fast-changing environment
