About the Role

Are you passionate about supporting whānau and making a difference in your community? We are looking for a Kaiārahi Hauora – Smokefree Practitioner to join our Smokefree Service.

We are looking to expand our profile and service delivery in Taupo-Turangi.  This is a community-connected role where you will support whānau on their journey to becoming smokefree, while also being out and about in the community promoting the Smokefree Service, building relationships and creating opportunities for whānau to access support.

You will be the face of our service in Taupo-Turangi, while working alongside our Rotorua based Smokefree team and Team Lead.  Alongside our team you will develop and implement creative ideas, community activities and activations that increase awareness and engagement with the Smokefree service. This is an opportunity to bring your skills, creativity and passion for working with people together to make a difference for whānau and communities within a well-supported kaupapa Māori organisation

You will bring the following attributes:

• Experience and/or accreditation in smoking cessation, or a willingness to work towards the required accreditation.
• Confidence and enthusiasm for engaging with whānau and communities in a range of settings.
• Ability to build genuine and respectful relationships with whānau, iwi, hapū, workplaces and community organisations.
• Creative thinking and initiative, with the ability to develop ideas and turn them into community activities and activations.
• Knowledge and understanding of Te Ao Māori, including te reo Māori me ōna tikanga.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with the Smokefree team and Team Lead while also working independently.
• Demonstrate a personal commitment to being smokefree and vape-free, acting as a positive role model for whānau and the community.
• A current and clean full driver's license.
