Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and supervise environmental monitoring and impact assessment activities related to mining projects and operations;
- Coordinate consulting firms and various internal and external stakeholders;
- Lead environmental impact assessments (EIAs) and specific environmental studies related to projects;
- Provide technical expertise on issues related to water resources, discharges, waste management, and the environmental impacts of mining activities;
- Ensure regulatory monitoring and compliance with environmental requirements applicable to projects;
- Contribute to the development and monitoring of environmental management, site rehabilitation, and restoration plans;
- Analyze environmental monitoring data, track environmental indicators, and recommend the necessary corrective actions;
- Prepare, review, and validate environmental technical reports and deliverables.
Required Skills:
- Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA) and impact assessment methodologies;
- Environmental monitoring, impact monitoring, and analysis of environmental indicators;
- Environmental and mining regulations;
- Hydrology and hydrogeology;
- Water management and treatment, particularly mining-impacted water;
- Waste management and pollution prevention;
- Rehabilitation, restoration, and closure of mining sites;
- Environmental Management Systems (ISO 14001);
- Proven experience in managing environmental projects and coordinating teams and technical partners;
- Fluency in French and good command of English;
- Proficiency in GIS tools is an asset.
Academic Background and Experience:
- Engineering degree or PhD in Environmental Sciences, Hydrogeology, Water Resources, Natural Resources, or a related field;
- Minimum 5 years of experience in environmental management, impact monitoring, and/or environmental studies, ideally within the mining or heavy industry sectors, with transferable expertise being considered.
Position based in the Marrakech region, with occasional travel to mining sites in Morocco and Africa.
