Crane/Backhoe Operator

What to expect:

Martin Marietta is seeking a Crane Operator to join our team. The ideal individual will be safety conscious, dependable, and motivated. This individual is responsible for safely and efficiently operating cranes and other lifting equipment (e.g. hoists) and transporting products/equipment on-site. In this position, the Crane Operator will perform maintenance on all relevant equipment, maintain a safe working area, and troubleshoot equipment operating issues.;

Midlothian Quarry

Midlothian, Virginia

Hours: 6:30AM - 4:30PM, weekends as necessary

A typical day for a(n) Crane Operator may include:

• Operating the crane and associated equipment within the company guidelines and safety standards

• Completing day to day activities of crane operations including daily/monthly machine inspections

• Participating in safety inspections, plant safety program, and follows company and MSHA safety rules and regulations

• Attaching loads with grappling devices, such as loops, wires, ropes, and chains, to crane hook within the company guidelines and safety standards

• Performing pre-shift safety inspection on equipment and reports needed repairs to the supervisor

• Receiving directions to engage in hoisting and moving products/equipment to ensure the safety of workers and material handled, using hand signals, loud speakers, or two-way radios

• Transporting, screens, crushers and other aggregate products/equipment to various locations on-site

• Transporting aggregate products to screens, crushers and other locations on-site
• Directing workers engaged in hoisting of machinery and equipment into or on to trucks, railroad cars or other moving device
• Operating other equipment in a safe manner as needed

• Aiding in the training of co-workers as needed

• Performing other duties as assigned by supervisor

You may be a good fit if you:

• Possess a High School Diploma, GED or equivalent experience to perform the responsibilities associated with this position

• Have previous experience as a crane operator or a similar role

• Have experience in the maintenance and operation of mobile equipment, construction equipment and/or equipment used processing plants

We are excited to share the base range for this position is $25.40 - $30.00, exclusive of benefits or bonuses (discretionary and non-discretionary). The offered base hourly compensation will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, business need, market conditions, proficiencies, skills, education, and experience. Additionally, at Martin Marietta we place a high value on internal pay equity and will consider the compensation for those in similarly situated roles and direct team members. The posted range for this role represents the total reasonable pay range and does not solely represent a hiring range. Therefore, hiring at the top or maximum of the range should not be expected as it would not allow for salary growth opportunities in the role, would diminish promotion value, and may not align with internal equity.
