Construction Engineer II (Full-Time)

MBP is looking for a Construction Engineer II to join our team in the Columbia, Maryland area. We are seeking new Team Members for growth opportunities and to work on meaningful projects that support our community. What You'll Do:

As a Construction Engineer II, you will take on a lead role in planning and managing small to mid-size projects and may lead a sub-group on larger projects. You will collaborate closely with Project Managers, build positive and productive working relationships with clients, peers, and team members, and contribute to strategic project decisions across a range of sectors including federal, laboratory facilities, data centers, state, municipal, K-12 school, higher education, and healthcare projects.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include: • Provide on-site representation and coordinate project documentation • Perform cost estimating, scheduling, and quality control/quality assurance inspection • Coordinate design management and review activities • Maintain electronic project files • Assist with the scheduling and management of design and construction meetings • Review and distribute project deliverables • Engage in training and professional development • Participate in marketing activities and involvement with professional associations • Actively participate in company initiatives • Analyze and optimize internal and external processes • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Who We Are Looking For

Experience:

• Experience in design or construction work activities, with demonstrated increasing responsibility, of the same or similar type sought for this position

• Experience may be in the following sectors: federal, laboratory facilities, data centers, state, municipal, K-12 school, higher education, or healthcare projects

Education/Knowledge:

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or related field

• Engineering principles, principles of construction management and project controls, with specialized knowledge of one or more areas including scheduling, cost estimating, documentation, contract administration, or construction techniques

• Thorough understanding of several of MBP's services

• Strong understanding of building codes, laws, and regulations that might affect assigned projects

Preferred Certifications:

• FE/EIT certification

• CMIT certification

• Working toward other certifications such as PE, CCM, CCE, or PSP is preferred

• Must possess OSHA 10-hour or OSHA 30-hour certification or obtain within 3 months of hire

Skills and Abilities:

• Write clear, concise, and accurate reports

• Coordinate with clients

• Carry out assignments from conception to completion

• Work within budgets and meet deadlines

• Identify potential problems and derive recommended solutions from past experiences

• Skilled in more than one of the following services: pre-construction, constructability and design review, critical path method schedules, cost estimating, project budgeting, financial analysis, delay analysis, construction quality assurance, automated control systems, quantity take-offs, and closeouts

• Meticulous attention to detail

• Utilize computers (including Microsoft Office software, BlueBeam, and PMIS) and other specialized equipment

• Understand and track project schedules

• Communicate issues effectively and responsibly (verbally and in writing) with internal and external customers (i.e., contractors, owners, subconsultants, and fellow Team Members)

• Obtain and maintain industry certifications specific to duties assigned

• Work collaboratively within a team

• Lift/carry 50 pounds (occasionally) and 20 pounds (frequently)

• Stand and sit as needed on project work sites, climb ladders, work at heights, and work outdoors in a wide range of weather conditions

• Safely navigate construction work sites with uneven terrain

Guidance/Responsibility:

• Project management responsibility in close liaison with the Project Manager on small to mid-size projects

• Lead role in planning and managing small to mid-size projects and/or leading a sub-group on a large project

The base salary range for this position is $82,600.00 to $99,100.00. Actual compensation will be determined based on work location, qualifications, experience, job-related skills, and relevant education or training.
