MBP is looking for a Project Manager I to join our team in Stafford, Virginia. What You'll Do:
As a Project Manager I, you will assist Project Management staff in managing a project's overall effort for the client. You will play a key role in anticipating and solving unprecedented engineering complexities, determining program objectives and requirements, organizing programs and projects, and developing standards and guidelines for diverse engineering activities. You will build and maintain strong client relationships, engage in business development, and actively participate in company initiatives and professional associations.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities include:
- Assist in managing a team and coordinating the work of various project entities (designer, contractor, owner personnel)
- Assist in preparation, monitoring, and managing client project budgets and internal budgets
- Analyze and optimize internal and external processes
- Conduct site visits, identify potential engineering problems, and propose solutions and alternatives
- Provide subject matter technical engineering support and assist in reviewing technical work of others
- Assist in providing project management on small to mid-size projects
- Help prepare, monitor, and manage the client's project budgets
- Work closely with project accountant to manage individual multipliers, utilization forecasts, and project margins
- Attend and participate in professional association meetings; stay abreast of new trends and innovations in the field of civil engineering
- Maintain certifications and re-certifications
- Adjust workload to changes and work to meet deadlines
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Who We Are Looking For
Experience:
- K-12 education and/or construction management experience with vertical building construction projects in governmental, commercial, or institutional sectors
- Evidence of progressive career development within the construction industry
Education/Knowledge:
- B.S. in an industry-related field preferred
- Professional registration strongly preferred
- Detailed knowledge of construction, principles of construction management, and project controls, with specialized knowledge in several areas including scheduling, cost estimating, documentation, contract administration, and construction techniques
- Some knowledge of personnel and project management techniques including budgeting, leadership, training, and business development
Preferred Certifications:
- Certified Construction Manager (CCM) strongly preferred
- Certified Cost Engineer (CCE) strongly preferred
- Other job-relevant certifications or advanced specialized technical knowledge strongly preferred
Skills and Abilities:
- Expertise with MBP's diverse services

- Capable of managing multiple assignments simultaneously
- Capable of managing a small project team
- Define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
- Interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables
- Analyze and optimize internal and external processes
- Stand and sit as needed on project work sites, climb ladders, work at heights, and work outdoors in a wide range of weather conditions
- Safely navigate construction work sites with uneven terrain
Guidance/Responsibility:
- Generally able to work independently and determine solutions with limited guidance
- Self-performs analytical and management tasks
- Receives overall guidance on emphasis and approach
- Assist in managing the profitability of projects and their forecasted budgets
Supervisory:
- Capable of supervising individuals and teams
- Provide training to less experienced personnel
- Assist with mentoring and facilitating the transfer of technical knowledge from more senior personnel to those with less experience
- Monitor progress, utilization, and quality of work produced by assigned staff
- Help manage, direct, and coordinate the work of assigned staff
- Maintain positive and productive working relationships with peer leaders, superiors, and subordinates

The base salary range for this position is $107,400.00 to $131,100.00. Actual compensation will be determined based on work location, qualifications, experience, job-related skills, and relevant education or training.
