Position Overview
The HVAC Estimator is responsible for accurately developing cost estimates for heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems across a variety of construction projects. This role involves reviewing construction documents, performing detailed material and labor takeoffs, and preparing competitive, accurate bids to support successful project delivery. Key Responsibilities
- Review blueprints, specifications, and project documents to determine HVAC scope of work.
- Perform detailed HVAC material takeoffs, including equipment, ductwork, piping, fittings, controls, and accessories.
- Estimate labor hours required for HVAC installations based on project scope, complexity, and industry standards.
- Research and obtain current pricing for HVAC materials, equipment, labor, and subcontracted services.
- Prepare comprehensive cost estimates including material costs, labor, equipment, overhead, and profit margins.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities and recommend alternative HVAC systems, materials, or installation methods when appropriate.
- Prepare and submit accurate and timely bids in accordance with project deadlines.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, vendors, and subcontractors to ensure estimate accuracy and constructability.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of HVAC codes, regulations, energy standards, and material pricing trends.
