The Role:

Medcan is recruiting for a part-time Clinic Nurse (RN) to join our Kingsway clinic. We are seeking an experienced, client-focused nursing professional who demonstrates strong clinical judgment, sound decision-making skills, and a proactive approach to patient care.

The successful candidate will be self-directed, resourceful, and comfortable working independently as the sole nurse on shift, taking ownership of day-to-day clinical and operational responsibilities while exercising sound clinical judgment and problem-solving skills. This role requires confidence in managing a broad range of clinical and administrative responsibilities in a dynamic ambulatory care environment while collaborating effectively with physicians and other clinic staff.

This role is responsible for the delivery of high-quality screening, preventive, and primary care nursing services for clients attending Year-Round Care appointments and other Medcan programs. As the sole nurse on shift, the successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring an exceptional client experience while supporting the safe, efficient, and effective operation of the clinic.

This position is located at Medcan's Bloor Islington Place clinic, Suite 1000, 3250 Bloor Street West.

What You'll Do:

• Immunization and vaccination education and administration
• Health assessment and teaching on cardiac risk factors, immunizations, and other nursing responsibilities
• Primary care nursing procedures such as ear syringing, dressing changes, suture/staple removal, and providing clinical support to physicians as required
• Administration of maintenance medications such as Vitamin B12, testosterone, and allergy serums
• Perform venipuncture, process blood samples and maintain accurate client and specimen records in the LIS.
• Monitoring and facilitating patient flow throughout the clinic
• Travel Clinic client education and vaccination
• Administrative duties including inventory and supplies ordering, maintaining cold chain for vaccine supply according to Vaccine Storage and Handling Guidelines
• Providing clients with education and guidance regarding healthy lifestyle, navigation of the health care system, and support and counseling regarding new diagnoses.
• Coordinate follow-up care for clients, including scheduling appointments, communicating results, and facilitating prescription renewals.
• Communication and explanation of results
• Case management
• Triaging client calls
• Coordinate with other teams to ensure exceptional service delivery for all clients

What You'll Need:

• Registered Nurse in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario
• 1-5 years of nursing experience
• Nursing experience in a primary care environment is essential
• Experience with phlebotomy
• Good understanding of publicly funded vaccine schedule and travel vaccines is an asset
• Current CPR/BCLS certification
• Superior verbal, written and electronic communication skills
• Experience in travel health, occupational health and pediatric nursing is an asset
• Proficiency in MS Outlook, Excel and Word
• Great organization and time management skills

This is a part-time position working 8.5-hour shifts with a 30-minute unpaid break. The successful candidate must be available to work every Saturday. This role is based primarily at our Kingsway clinic and requires the ability to travel to our Toronto clinic at 150 York St. for onboarding and training as required. Training expectations will be discussed in further detail during the interview process.

Position Pay Range:

Pay is determined based on your RN registration date.

• 1 year: $35.47

• 2 years: $36.54

• 3 years: $38.39

• 4 years: $39.98

• 5 years: $41.94

• 6 years: $43.87

• 7 years: $47.08

• 8+ years: $50.85

The above figures are an hourly rate. All amounts are in CAD.

Pay will be determined based on an analysis of the selected candidate's experience and qualifications within our nursing grid. Medcan's compensation ranges are determined by a combination of required qualifications and skills, market value, and internal equity. The above range pertains solely to the base compensation and is not inclusive of additional compensation details such as perks, benefits, and potential bonuses or incentives.
