The Meat Cutter/Butcher will provide exceptional customer service through the cutting and preparation of specialty cuts of meat, sharing grilling and preparation techniques and offering recommendation to our customers. All duties will be performed in a manner that will help achieve the Medford Cooperative’s mission and goals.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Greet all customers with a friendly attitude and serve our customers in a friendly, efficient manner
- Promote positive culture and ensure effective communication
- Responsible for all meat production including cutting, trimming, grinding, wrapping, marinating and overall meat preparation.
- Increase sales by ensuring visually appealing products and presentation.
- Reduce waste by following production lists, recipes and following accurate trim standards.
- Take special orders or requests and complete them in a timely manner.
- Maintains an adequate level of supplies in the Meat Department by replenishing items as needed.
- Properly prepare, package and price products to sell to our customers.
- Ensure that the meat case(s) is always full and fresh with the best quality products.
- Provide consistent, timely and friendly customer service when answering questions, making recommendations and promoting products through suggestive selling.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS
Education and Experience Required:
- HS Diploma or equivalent preferred
- Food Safety Certification required within 90 days of employment
- Knowledge of perishable foods preferred
Skills and Abilities Required:
- Must be age 18 or older to use the equipment in the meat department
- Able to lift up to 50 lbs. as required
- Friendly, courteous, service-oriented attitude
- Strong verbal communication skills
- Excellent organizational and planning skills
- Ability to accommodate a fluctuating schedule, including weekend and holiday shifts
- Must be able to lift, twist, bend, stoop, squat, stand, reach, pull, push and lift overhead
WORKING CONDITIONS
Position requires this candidate to work 40 hour per week in this full-time position.
Schedule includes nights, weekends and holidays, flexibility is essential.
Smoke-free environment that will be primarily indoor work but at times may be exposed to cool temperatures as well as when entering coolers.
Fast-paced environment requiring standing 8 hours per day.
