POSITION SUMMARY

Performs special floor-specific cleaning projects and daily floor-cleaning duties in accordance with standard procedures and contract objectives. Operates various types of equipment used for floor care maintenance such as but not always, auto scrubbers, floor machines, wet/dry vacuums, burnishers, vacuums, sweepers, pressure wash equipment and carpet extractors. Provides daily preventive equipment maintenance on all equipment used. Ensure all equipment is cleaned and stored properly.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Dust Mopping Floors
• Mopping and Burnishing Floors (Buffing)
• Strip and Re-Wax Floors based on a floor care schedule
• Top Scrub as Needed
• Ensure all baseboards, corners, and edges are free of debris, and wax build up
• Sweep, mop, scrub, and/or vacuum floors.
• “Spot” cleaning carpets.
• Steam-clean or shampoo carpets as needed or if in the contract.
• Use electrically powered scrubbing and polishing machines to burnish, scrub, polish and spray clean floors (after receiving proper instruction and training).
• Follow procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment in order to prevent damage to floors and fixtures.
• The use of chemical agents as directed by the Supervising Officer in the discharge of cleaning operations or maintenance procedures, after receiving proper instructions and training.
