Exciting Opportunity at MSK: Project Manager, Capital Procurement (Planning, Design + Construction)

The Project Manager, Capital Procurement supports Planning, Design & Construction’s capital project portfolio by developing procurement strategies, coordinating complex sourcing activities, and improving the processes, tools, and reporting used to procure design, construction, consulting, FF&E, equipment, and related capital-project goods and services.

The position serves as PD&C’s primary operational liaison to Supply Chain, Strategic Sourcing, Finance, Legal, Compliance, Real Estate Operations, Equipment Planning, and other institutional partners. The Project Manager coordinates procurement activities from early planning and scope development through solicitation, evaluation, recommendation, award, and transition to contract and purchase-order administration.

    Role Overview

    • Develop and manage project-specific procurement plans aligned with approved scope, budget, schedule, operational requirements, and project delivery strategies.

    • Coordinate procurement activities across the full lifecycle, from planning and solicitation through award, contract execution, and purchase-order administration.

    • Support competitive sourcing events including RFPs, RFQs, bidder selection, evaluation processes, interviews, bid leveling, and recommendation development.

    • Partner with Supply Chain, Strategic Sourcing, Finance, Legal, Compliance, and project teams to execute procurement activities efficiently and consistently.

    • Monitor procurement milestones, contracts, requisitions, supplier commitments, and long-lead items to support project schedules and operational readiness.

    • Recommend procurement strategies that promote value, competition, quality, risk management, and schedule performance across capital projects.

    • Serve as a key advisor to project teams on procurement pathways, documentation requirements, supplier availability, lead times, and market conditions.

    • Support supplier performance management by tracking responsiveness, quality, schedule adherence, and issue resolution in collaboration with Strategic Sourcing.

    • Maintain procurement dashboards, reporting, risk assessments, and performance metrics while identifying opportunities for process improvement and cost optimization.

    Key Qualifications

    • Minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible experience in procurement, strategic sourcing, project management, construction, or capital project delivery.

    • Demonstrated experience leading complex competitive procurements, sourcing initiatives, or contract award processes.

    • Experience procuring consultant services, construction services, FF&E, capital equipment, or other capital project-related goods and services; healthcare or institutional construction experience preferred.

    • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and enterprise procurement, ERP, project management, or project controls systems.

    • Professional certifications such as CPSM, C.P.M., PMP, CCM, or comparable credentials preferred.

    Core Skills

    • Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with diverse stakeholders while driving cross-functional collaboration.

    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret procurement, financial, supplier, and project performance data.

    • Excellent communication, facilitation, negotiation, and presentation skills for influencing decisions and managing complex initiatives.

    • Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple concurrent projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
