    Job description

Breathe Life Into Every Patient You Serve
*Open to various shifts AND hours including 8-hour and/or 12-hour shifts*

At Meritus Health, we believe in care that goes beyond the routine. As a Respiratory Practitioner, you’ll be at the heart of life-saving care for patients of all ages—from fragile newborns to our most senior community members. Your skills will directly impact lives in critical moments, whether it’s supporting a newborn’s first breath or responding to an emergency code.
    What You’ll Do
    • Deliver Expert Care – Administer oxygen therapy, medications, and bronchial hygiene treatments to help patients breathe easier and recover faster.
    • Be a Critical Lifeline – Provide airway maintenance, including endotracheal intubation, and expertly manage mechanical ventilation (both invasive and non-invasive).
    • Assess & Act – Evaluate each patient’s condition and tailor care plans to address urgent and evolving respiratory needs.
    • Educate & Empower – Teach patients how to manage chronic lung conditions, giving them the tools to improve their quality of life.
    • Work at the Frontline of Emergencies – Serve on Rapid Response, Code Blue, and Trauma Teams, bringing calm expertise to high-pressure situations.
    • Support Specialized Procedures – Acquire and analyze arterial blood gases, assist with bronchoscopies, and ensure equipment is cleaned and maintained to the highest standard.
    What We’re Looking For
    • Education: Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Therapy program (or equivalent).
    • Experience: Relevant experience in the field is preferred.
    • Licensure: Licensed by the Maryland Board of Physicians as a Respiratory Care Practitioner OR must obtain license within 90 days of hire. Current BLS certification required.
    • Skills: Strong clinical judgment, ability to operate respiratory equipment safely and effectively, and comfort working across diverse patient populations.
    Why Choose Meritus Health?
    • Join a dedicated, highly skilled respiratory care team passionate about patient outcomes.
    • Work in an environment where your skills are valued, your input matters, and your growth is encouraged.
    • Access advanced technology and continuous training to keep your skills at the forefront of the field.
    Caring for Our Team
We offer a comprehensive benefits package to support our employees' well-being and professional growth. Benefits include health, dental, and vision insurance available starting the 1st of the month following date of hire, along with life insurance, & short and long-term disability coverage. Paid Time Off begins accruing from day one, and we also provide a 401k plan, an education assistance program, and an employee assistance program. Additionally, employees working off shifts may be eligible for a shift differential, adding even more value to your role.

At Meritus, we believe in a collaborative and caring work environment. Interactions are an opportunity to learn, listen and to be there for one another. Therefore, we provide warm welcomes, hospitality-driven closures, and are always Happy to Help.
