    Job description

    Maintenance Scheduler 

    ROLE PROFILE

    A Maintenance Scheduler creates and manages manufacturing schedules to ensure timely and efficient completion of maintenance tasks and projects within budget. Key responsibilities include balancing asset availability, materials, and manpower; collaborating with various departments; monitoring progress; and resolving conflicts. Essential skills for this role include strong organizational and communication abilities, proficiency in scheduling and CMMS software, and problem-solving capabilities. 

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Initiate the quotation process, and develop and improve internal and, as necessary, external supplier relationships and performance.
    • Prepare and process purchase orders (POs) for materials, services, and contractors.
    • Plan and manage material logistics to ensure 100% on-time delivery for planned projects, maintenance work, and outside work.
    • Analyze machine needs with respect to capacity planning, maintenance, facilities, and stakeholder requirements.
    • Maintain adequate levels of stocked and controlled components to meet anticipated demand, collaborating with MRO to avoid parts shortages, overages, and unnecessary inventory, and adjusting order review points as needed.
    • Take ownership of all maintenance scheduling and related processes and procedure documentation.
    • Take direction from the Master Scheduler to plan and coordinate applicable schedules for equipment repairs, facilities planning, and projects.
    • Review production and maintenance specifications and identify and report plant capacity and health constraints.
    • Monitor workflow and schedules to ensure on-time delivery.
    • Coordinate with production, maintenance, logistics, and MRO to develop, execute, and maintain schedules and scheduling parameters for planned maintenance downtime.
    • Develop an effective scheduling process to achieve all plant objectives.
    • Other duties as assigned by your direct leadership.

    ROLE ATTRIBUTES

    KNOWLEDGE

    • Safety procedures such as lockout/tagout, confined space entry, hot work, and fall protection, etc.

    • Understanding of basic manufacturing.

    • Basic understanding of blueprints. 

    • Basic math and measurement principles.

    • Basic computer knowledge.

    • Maximo (CMMS) knowledge.

    • Understanding of company policies, procedures, and union contract parameters.

    • Understanding of scheduling principles and functions.

    • Knowledge of 5S work standards.

    SKILLS

    • Strong organizational skills.

    • Diagnose problems and make adjustments.

    • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

    • Manage own time effectively.

    • Detect issues and report them, along with any unusual situations, to leadership.

    • Effectively advise up the chain of command and escalate as needed.

    • Collaborate with the Shopfloor, Maintenance, MRO, and stakeholders.

    • Become an expert on all scheduling and maintenance processes required at Roanoke.

    ABILITIES

    • Comply with all safety regulations.

    • Schedule emergency repairs of production equipment during production runs, and schedule preventive maintenance repairs during planned machine service.

    • Think critically through problems and take quick action to resolve them.

    • Schedule regular preventive maintenance on machines, equipment, and plant facilities.

    • Maintain clean and orderly (5S) working areas.
    • Accurately review downtime records and properly escalate any incorrect data.

    • Maintain effective interpersonal relationships with all stakeholders.

    • Understand and follow instructions, and escalate issues as required.

    • Track essential KPIs, as appropriate, that impact scheduling within your area of responsibility.

    All employees are responsible for understanding and complying with applicable policies, procedures, and internal controls; executing assigned control activities; maintaining appropriate supporting evidence; and promptly reporting any identified deviation, risk, or control deficiency to the direct leader.

    Salary Range $60,000 - $70,000
