The Role

We’re not just hiring for a position, we’re adding a teammate 

As a Senior Data Engineer at Minga, you’ll own the data platform that turns our product and business data into something 2,000+ schools, and every team at Minga, can trust. Reporting to the Senior Engineering Manager of Platform & SRE, you’ll give our Snowflake, Stitch and Metabase stack a real owner: modelling standards, orchestration, data quality, cost and access control. Over the next year you’ll also become the data lead for the ground-up rebuild of our platform.

This is a senior individual contributor role with big impact. You’ll own our data platform, influence how we grow, and help build the high-performance teams that make Minga a place people love to work.

What You’ll Do 🚀

• Own ingestion end to end: harden or replace our current Stitch pipelines and bring proper orchestration to a stack that runs on good intentions today
• Introduce and own a modelling layer (dbt or equivalent) with versioning, tests and review that our RevOps analysts can build against without slowing down
• Define and enforce access, retention and PII-handling standards across Snowflake and Metabase. We hold student-level data and we treat it that way
• Run a visible intake queue and service commitment for RevOps, Finance, CX and Product, and teach analysts to self-serve rather than wait on you
• Partner with our product squads on the analytics event model for the new platform and the tooling that maps legacy data into it as customers migrate
• Keep Snowflake and pipeline costs proportional to usage, and know exactly why when they aren’t
• Use AI tooling every day to move faster, and set the standard for how data work gets reviewed when a model can write the first draft

What We Require ✅

• 5+ years of experience building and operating production data pipelines
• Proven success owning a cloud data warehouse end to end (Snowflake preferred), plus dbt or a comparable modelling framework
• Experience working in a SaaS or high-growth environment, ideally as the first or only data engineer
• Strong SQL and Python skills, with working knowledge of at least one orchestration tool
• Hands-on experience with sensitive or regulated data and the access-control and privacy work that comes with it
• Strong written communication: docs, runbooks, and the ability to say no kindly
• Nice to have: exposure to student data regulations (FERPA, PIPEDA), HubSpot or Salesforce data, Metabase administration, or a warehouse migration between schemas or platforms
• There is a STRONG preference for a candidate to be in the Okanagan  and be in office 3x a week. However, we are open to a remote candidate.

Role Compensation 💰

Base Salary: $130,000- $160,000 CND

At Minga, we believe compensation should reflect impact, fairness, and market alignment, supporting our mission to empower educators and students while building a high-performing, people-first culture. Our standard is to pay at or near the midpoint of the range unless there is a clear business rationale to vary. This approach allows for growth and provides room to learn and develop within the role. We also conduct annual compensation reviews in November, which take into account both market benchmarks and individual performance.
