Medical Lead Veterinarian – Odyssey Veterinary Care in Madison / Fitchburg, WI
• Interest In: Progressive small-animal medicine within an AAHA-accredited, full-service hospital offering comprehensive wellness and preventative care, internal medicine, advanced diagnostics, dentistry, routine and advanced surgery, ultrasound, pain management, dermatology, cardiology, oncology support, urgent/same-day care, intensive care, senior medicine, and end-of-life care. • Medical Lead / Experienced Veterinarian: We are seeking an experienced veterinarian who is excited to combine hands-on clinical medicine with meaningful medical leadership. This is an ideal opportunity for a collaborative, confident DVM who enjoys practicing at a high level while also having a voice in the medical direction of the hospital. Our Medical Lead will remain predominantly clinical, leading by example while partnering with hospital leadership to champion medical quality, strengthen clinical standards, support the doctor team, and help guide Odyssey's continued growth.
• Lead Medicine, Not Administration: This is a clinical leadership opportunity designed for a veterinarian who still loves being a veterinarian! You'll maintain your own caseload while serving as a trusted medical resource for the team, helping guide protocols, encourage consistency in patient care, collaborate on complex cases, and support continued clinical development throughout the hospital. Your influence extends beyond your own exam room without pulling you away from the medicine you love.
• Strong Doctor & Technical Team: Step into leadership alongside an established multi-doctor team and experienced support staff that includes multiple Certified Veterinary Technicians and Lead CVTs. Odyssey's depth of clinical talent creates an environment where doctors can collaborate, bounce ideas off one another, and practice high-quality medicine with meaningful support behind them.
• Advanced Medicine & Diverse Caseload: Odyssey provides care extending well beyond routine GP, including digital radiology, ultrasound, comprehensive in-house laboratory capabilities, advanced dentistry with dental radiography, routine and advanced surgical procedures, intensive care and hospitalization, laser therapy, oncology support, pain management, and same-day urgent cases. Doctors also have access to collaboration with board-certified specialists when additional expertise is needed.
• Layout & Facility Highlights: Our AAHA-accredited facility is designed and equipped to support comprehensive and advanced patient care, including dedicated surgical and dental capabilities, digital imaging, ultrasound, in-house diagnostics, advanced anesthesia monitoring, and an on-site ICU with heated cages and oxygen capabilities. AAHA accreditation reflects Odyssey's commitment to maintaining rigorous standards across patient care, anesthesia, surgery, diagnostics, dentistry, safety, and client service.
• Collaborative Leadership Environment: Our Medical Lead will partner closely with hospital and regional leadership while serving as a trusted clinical voice for the veterinary team. We are looking for someone who values communication, accountability, curiosity, and collaboration and who understands that great leadership isn't about having all the answers, it's about creating an environment where great medicine and great people can thrive together.
• Continued Growth for You, Too: Becoming a leader doesn't mean your own learning stops. In addition to generous continuing education support, you'll have access to our Clinical Tracks Program, offering complimentary RACE-approved CE facilitated by veterinary specialists within our network. Whether your passion is surgery, dentistry, internal medicine, ultrasound, exotics, leadership, or another area of veterinary medicine, we'll help you continue developing your expertise.
Have a special interest? Let's talk about how we can help make it a larger part of your everyday practice.
• Patient Mix: Enjoy a diverse caseload primarily consisting of dogs and cats, with additional opportunities to see rabbits and pocket pets. Cases range from preventative medicine and dentistry to surgery, advanced diagnostics, urgent presentations, hospitalization, chronic disease management, oncology support, and complex medical workups, providing plenty of variety for an experienced clinician.
