MISTRAS Group is seeking a qualified NDT Guided Wave Technician (GUT) in Jacksonville, FL. The ideal candidate will be responsible for performing guided wave ultrasonic testing on piping systems and other applicable assets. This position is responsible for equipment setup, data collection, analysis, interpretation, and reporting to identify areas of potential corrosion, erosion, wall loss, and other material degradation.
The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with Guided Wave Testing (GWT), also referred to as Long-Range Ultrasonic Testing (LRUT), and a strong understanding of pipeline integrity, ultrasonic principles, and industrial inspection practices.

Job Responsibilities:
Perform guided wave ultrasonic examinations on aboveground, underground, insulated, sleeved, elevated, and difficult-to-access piping.
Set up and operate guided wave testing equipment in accordance with approved procedures, manufacturer requirements, and customer specifications.
Select appropriate test locations, equipment configurations, frequencies, and inspection parameters.
Review piping configurations and identify features that may affect test results, including welds, supports, flanges, elbows, branches, coatings, insulation, and changes in wall thickness.
Collect, analyze, and interpret guided wave data to identify areas of potential corrosion, erosion, wall loss, or other anomalies.
Differentiate relevant indications from geometric features, environmental interference, and other sources of signal response.
Determine the effective inspection range and limitations of each examination.
Mark and document areas requiring follow-up inspection using conventional ultrasonic thickness testing or other NDT methods.
Prepare accurate inspection reports, including equipment settings, test locations, findings, limitations, screenshots, drawings, and recommendations.
Communicate inspection results to customers, supervisors, engineers, and other project personnel.
Verify that testing equipment is functioning properly and that applicable calibration and maintenance requirements are current.
Maintain organized and traceable inspection records.
Follow company procedures, customer requirements, and applicable industry codes and standards.
Comply with all site-specific safety rules and use required personal protective equipment.
Assist with additional NDT methods and inspection activities based on qualifications and project needs.
Requirements:
Documented guided wave ultrasonic testing training and field experience.
Demonstrated ability to set up equipment, collect data, interpret results, and prepare inspection reports.
Knowledge of guided wave principles, ultrasonic wave modes, signal behavior, attenuation, sensitivity, and inspection limitations.
Understanding of piping systems, corrosion mechanisms, material degradation, and common piping components.
Ability to read piping drawings, isometric drawings, P&IDs, procedures, and technical specifications.
Ability to distinguish relevant indications from welds, supports, flanges, elbows, branches, and other geometric features.
Strong computer, technical writing, and data-management skills.
Preferred Requirements:
Training or certification on recognized guided wave equipment platforms, such as Guided Ultrasonics Ltd. Teletest or Southwest Research Institute Magnetostrictive Sensor technology.
Ultrasonic Testing Level II certification in accordance with an employer-based written practice.
Additional NDT Level II certifications in methods such as MT, PT, VT, or PAUT.
Experience performing inspections in pipeline, petrochemical, refinery, chemical, power-generation, or terminal environments.
Experience inspecting insulated piping, road crossings, wall penetrations, pipe racks, offshore piping, or other limited-access systems.
Familiarity with API, ASME, ASTM, and applicable customer inspection requirements.
Current OSHA, TWIC, HAZWOPER, confined-space, fall-protection, or site-specific safety credentials.
