The role focuses primarily on Directors & Officers (D&O), Financial Institutions Professional Liability (E&O), Employment Practices Liability (EPL), Fiduciary, and Fidelity claims, including complex litigation, class actions, securities matters, and high-severity financial loss exposures. The position offers significant autonomy, visibility, and the ability to influence claim outcomes and the continued expansion of the business.

    Essential Functions:

    • Manage a diverse portfolio of complex Financial Lines claims from initial notice through resolution.
    • Analyze coverage, liability, damages, and exposure issues, establish appropriate reserves, and provide accurate claim assessments involving D&O, Financial Institutions E&O, EPL, Fiduciary, and Fidelity policies.
    • Draft coverage position letters, reservation of rights letters, and other claim-related communications.
    • Evaluate and manage high-severity matters, including securities litigation, class actions, regulatory investigations, and complex commercial disputes.
    • Develop and execute strategic claim resolution plans, including settlement negotiations within delegated authority and escalation of matters requiring higher-level approval.
    • Coordinate with outside counsel on litigation strategy while controlling legal spend.
    • Collaborate with underwriting, actuarial, legal, and senior leadership on emerging risks, claim trends, and portfolio performance.
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with insureds, brokers, defense counsel, and business partners.
    • Prepare claim summaries, authority requests, and management reports while maintaining accurate claim documentation and file records in accordance with company and regulatory requirements.
    • Contribute to the continued growth and development of the Financial Lines claims operation.

    Education and Experience:

    • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
    • Active bar admission in at least one U.S. jurisdiction and in good standing.
    • 7+ years of experience handling Financial Lines claims, coverage litigation, or complex commercial litigation.
    • Strong knowledge of D&O, Financial Institutions E&O, EPL, Fiduciary, and Fidelity coverages.
    • Experience evaluating complex coverage issues and large-loss exposures.

    Other qualifications and skills:

    • Carrier or broker-side Financial Lines claims experience preferred.
    • Experience handling claims involving financial institutions, private equity firms, investment managers, or other complex financial organizations preferred.
    • Background managing securities claims, class actions, regulatory matters, and high-exposure commercial disputes preferred.
    • Experience working with primary policies preferred.
    • Professional liability and financial institution claim expertise preferred.
